Newcastle is officially the third best city for gigs in the UK

I mean we knew that already

In a recent event data review by Tickx, Newcastle was shown to have the third biggest love for a good old gig with a score of 62.5%.

Though all cities showed to have a steady number of gigs per week, Newcastle were in the top three with Norwich and Wolverhampton.

This figure doesn’t include club nights, so it shows that though we’re often known for our love of just going out on the Toon, there’s a large percentage of Newcastle’s drinking which will be done at events hosted by places such as Metro Arena and O2 Academy. Of course, in the Toon, we have The Sage where there are great gigs on every week spanning from Bonobo to the Cinematic Orchestra.

The same survey found that ticket prices for events were cheapest in August – presumably to draw people in as the city feels the lack of students. Conversely December and January have the highest ticket prices, so you can spend all that Christmas money on tickets – I’d recommend a great gig.
