Fights, slights, crawling back to ex: One week after the Love Island final, and chaos reigns

It’s been seven days of non-stop drama, so here’s the highlight reel

Love Island finished earlier this month, with Lorenzo and Julia ultimately taking the crown, but that doesn’t mean that the drama is over.

As we know, Love Island drama has a habit of spilling into the real world after the show’s conclusion. Season 13 did exactly that, and though most of the Islanders are still together, it’s not exactly the Garden of Eden out here.

Let’s run it down.

What the hell is going on with Julia and Lorenzo?

Julia and Lorenzo won season 13 of Love Island, but people on Twitter have since said they’re the first winners who don’t seem to like each other. They took yonks to update their socials, and had not been on a real date until this week. In interviews on shows like This Morning, people instantly clocked the body language between the two winners. It was “cold” and “detached”, people said.

Despite the rumour mill spiralling, Lorenzo confirmed: “As we’ve left the villa, we’re still in the same place, exclusively dating.”

Whether they last as long as some of the other winners is another question entirely.

They’re ‘exclusive’, but Lorenzo isn’t acting like it on Insta

People with way too much time on their hands have also spotted Lorenzo liking pictures from various Instagram baddies. Specifically, he liked bikini-clad photos from influencers like Mary HS, Bella Salerno, and Lene Voigt.

Perhaps more damning is his digital footprint on TikTok. He’s been saving and liking edits of himself and Jasmine, people realised.

Not exactly the best look one week after winning the whole show.

Someone is back with their ex

Tina Rad was one of those Islanders who didn’t really do much on the show. Though she tried her luck with Aidan, she was subsequently dumped by Ellie and Lorenzo.

Since then, and amidst rumours of her dating fellow Islanders, Tina has confirmed that she’s speaking to her ex again.

“In a nutshell I came off Love Island. This is the juicy part and I’m crying because I found out something happened with my family and I rang him. He’s my comfort, [I] shouldn’t have done it,” she admitted.

There have been lots of relationship updates

Right now, this year’s Islanders are trying to work out whether their show relationships can work in the real world. Seasons since past would suggest not, but they’re cracking on anyway.

For Ellie Chadwick and Finley Maddock, things are moving fast. She’s already shared her intention to move to London to be closer to him.

Other Islanders are also going steady, with the likes of Simba and Angelista, Kavan and Jasmine, and Tommy and Yasmin all going exclusive. Naturally, it’s given way to Islanders meeting the in-laws, with Samraj even flying out to spend some time with Mica’s family in Barbados. I wonder if Rihanna is there.

The only couples who have split, and I use the term “couples” lightly here, are Jordon and Martha and Robyn and George. Again, were they even really together?

The following-gate drama

After each season wraps up, people tend to take a magnifying glass to analyse who each Islander is following. This year, it’s caused quite the kerfuffle for the finalists.

For instance, the Julia and Jasmine beef is going strong because neither is following the other on Insta. The same could not be said for their significant others; Lorenzo is following Kavan, but Kavan is not following Julia.

To make matters worse, it seems Lorenzo followed Jasmine before his literal girlfriend. Ouch.

I think we’re all over the National Rail beef at this point

I hope you accept my apology @national.rail

Towards the end of the show, Priya told Elicia to “go back to the National Rail” in a moment that caused a major stir on Twitter. People slammed her “job shaming”, with Elicia branding her season 13 sister “bitter” and jealous.

Well, it’s continued after the show. It’s not as beefy anymore, but Priya has made a few jokey TikToks whilst sat on the train.

The Islanders have been spending time with each other outside of the villa, but Kavan arguably picked the worst option when he caught up with dumped lad George.

As we know, George initially claimed that he left the villa because of a family emergency. Despite that, it later emerged that he was booted for “unacceptable language”, so people aren’t happy with Kav right now.

“Um why would he choose to meet up with him after he was exposed???” one person questioned.

And that’s only one week in. I wonder what delights week two will bring us.
