Meet Nasr M, the SU presidential candidate who didn’t actually know he was running

Ignorance truly is bliss

In the current bid for SU Presidency alongside Image for Duncan Michie, Frida Gustafsson, Jon Munro, Irati Michel, Jonathon Busby, and Mick Kolesidis, enters dark horse Nasr Muflahi, the candidate who didn't actually know he was running until I asked to interview him.

This mysterious figure leaves much to the imagination with his brief manifesto, simply stating: "Hi, my name is Nasr Muflahi, I'm running for this position because I feel as if I am effective within this feidlty."

He also tells us within his manifesto: "I want the Students to have fun and enjoy being at the university. I think that I should be voted for because whatever you need done, you know I will do my best to try to get your point across as soon as possible."

When attempting to contact Nasr for an interview, I was first met with initial confusion. "I'm sorry this is so random, I don't think I'm running am I??"

Despite being blissfully unaware he was running, I sent him the link of his manifesto on the SU webpage, to which he responded: "Wow that was so long ago, they told me signing up wouldn't count until recently. I don't think I would win but yeah I can do an interview if needs be."

So, your manifesto doesn't reveal much; can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I'm 19, and a First Year student studying International Business. I've actually already got experience being union president and I would like to use that to better the uni.

You mention running charity events to increase student happiness as one of your main manifesto points, do you have any ideas or suggestions of what kind of events you would run?

I was thinking of getting all my body waxed for charity I know a lot of people willing to pay to see that.

What else would you do with you power as SU President if you were elected; what policies would you implement?

I wanna do charity events, and my biggest goal is to get the students to actually know the campus, like I've been here nearly a year and only recently found out there was a Student Life Centre. People need to take advantage of all the facilities the uni provides

How did you get involved in running for SU President? And would you explain how you weren't actually aware that you were running for SU President?

I didn't even realise I was running at first because I had signed up at the beginning of the year; that's when I was full of energy, but you know, uni can suck it out of you.

And finally, if you weren't running yourself who would you be voting for?

I haven't looked but I've seen the posters everywhere though.

The elections will take place on Monday the 19th of March. Only time will tell if Nasr has what it takes to become our next SU President. Watch this space.
