You can’t fault the breathtaking views of our Stirling Campus.

The vast loch, the surrounding hills and its ability to look beautiful no matter the season.

It’s no surprise that our campus was voted the second most picturesque in the UK (screw you Roehampton).

Ours was voted the UK’s 2nd best looking campus

But in such an idyllic setting it’s easy to overlook the fantastic facilities on campus.

Not only do we have our very own castle, but you can also play an affordable round of golf on the 9-hole golf course and driving range.

We even have our own castle

Former student and avid golfer Andrew Cho thinks the diverse course is great value for money for skint students. Andrew said: “I would say the main attraction for students is the price range, it’s only £2.80 for a single round and £5 for public.

“When I think about some of the courses I’ve played before, they really weren’t as cheap as the Stirling university golf course. It’s definitely worth a visit.”

It’s no crazy golf, but it’ll do

Designated by the Scottish government as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence in 2008, it is no surprise that the Stirling campus has some of the best sporting facilities in the country.

Stirling boasts the national swimming academy, an olympic sized swimming pool, the national tennis centre, and a vast range of pitches, halls and courts for all manner of sports.

P.E Student and rugby player Danny Ross feels lucky to have them on his doorstep. He said: “Having them all in such close proximity gives it an edge over other universities

“It’s obvious why so many top class athletes are based here, with training and strength and conditioning facilities second to none.

“Being a student PE teacher, it’s great to have yourself surrounded with sporting excellence while learning your trade.”

We are one of the best sporting institutions in the UK

But our uni isn’t just for budding athletes.

Our campus is home to Central Scotland’s leading arts venue, the Macrobert Arts Centre.

Macrobert Cafe bar supervisor and student Jed Mackinnon thinks the cinema is a true asset to the university. He said: “It offers such a variety for students, families and adults

“The cinema offers tickets to students at £4.50 and shows some of the latest movies. There will also be late-night cult movies being shown monthly at 11.00pm. This year for Halloween it’s The Shining!

“There are also a variety of shows being performed throughout the week in our theatre which offer a discounted rate for students.”

With top class sporting facilities, affordable cinema visits and glorious grounds ,The University of Stirling definitely proves it is a worthy contender alongside top universities in the UK.

Take that, Oxbridge.
