A Leicester student has been robbed by an armed man in Victoria Park.

The 20-year-old man was approached in Victoria park at around 6.15pm last Thursday, 13th November.

He was threatened with a weapon believed to be a firearm.

A bewildered spokesperson for Leicestershire police laughed when The Tab called him about the attack.

Later, he confirmed:

“A Nokia mobile phone, white and silver iPod Touch, a HQ Compaq laptop and a small amount of cash was stolen.”

Leicestershire police advised students walking alone would be safest in bright, well-lit, busy areas and encouraged those walking home in the dark to get a personal attack alarm.

Police also advised: “Act confidently, look where you’re going and walk tall. Be alert to your surroundings.”

“Don’t advertise valuables such as your mobile phone, laptop, jewellery or MP3 player. Keep these items hidden.”
