Exclusive: Vibe is still planning to go ahead with its Grand Opening event on Saturday

A car crashed into the nightclub shortly before 11:30pm last night

VIBE nightclub has told The Lancaster Tab that it is still planning to hold its Grand Opening this Saturday, October 22nd, after a car crashed into the front of the club late last night.

When The Lancaster Tab approached Vibe following last night’s car crash, the club said “management” are “getting ready for opening on Saturday night”.

The car crashed into the doors opposite Dalton Square, shattering them and scattering glass shards into the road. The car is then reported to have driven away.

Police were at the scene in the early hours of this morning taking statements and attempting to sweep glass out of the road so that cars could pass through. The entrance to the nightclub was taped off due to the damage and investigation and is currently being repaired.

Lancashire Police told The Lancaster Tab nobody was injured in the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.

The nightclub’s sold-out Grand Opening event will take place this Saturday, followed by the return of Skint Mondays featuring Paul Chuckle on the 24th, and Bollynights’ Diwali Fest on October 27th.

VIBE is situated in the former location of nightclub GLOW, which shut down in June of this year following an altercation that resulted in the death of  22-year-old Joshua Hughes.

Lancaster businessmen, Tim Barbary, Rick Backhouse and Avinash Nandwani have since acquired the lease for the building, with Barbary previously stating that they are committed to ensuring VIBE is a “fun, secure and safe environment for students and young people alike.”
