‘A fun, safe and secure environment’: Glow to reopen as Vibe Lancaster
The nightclub will reopen under new ownership this October
Jess CowieThe space formerly occupied by Dalton Rooms, also known as GLOW Nightclub, has been bought by three local businessmen.
Tim Barbary, Rick Backhouse and Avinash Nandwani have acquired the lease for the building, which will be opening the week commencing 10th October as Vibe Lancaster, subject to work being complete.
Barbary currently owns Bay Camera and Communications Limited, along with Brittlestar Wine Bar and Bay EV, and Backhouse owns Sydney’s in Lancaster.
GLOW Nightclub closed following the death of 22-year-old Joshua Hughes, who died after an assault outside the nightclub on June 12th. The building has been empty ever since. Prior to the closing, Lancaster SU said that any society holding events located at or in conjunction with the club would not be allowed to keep its affiliation with the students’ union.
Barbary said in a statement on his Facebook page: “Our aim as local businessmen is to provide a fun, secure and safe environment for students and young people alike. We will be making changes to how the club was run previously and we will do our utmost to make it a safe venue.”
He went on to say that tickets for the opening Saturday night will be on sale soon.
