Lancaster University Students’ Union announces nominees for the 2024 Society Awards

The winners will be announced on Wednesday 20th March


Lancaster University Students’ Union has announced the shortlisted nominations for this year’s Society Awards.

There are 15 categories for the awards, 12 of which were announced on Tuesday 12th March.

The winners will be announced in the Society Awards event.

This event will take place on Wednesday 20th March at the Great Hall, starting at 6:30pm. Alongside the announcements, the event will feature live performances from ULMS Big Band, LUDANS, LUSing, Acapella and Hip Hop & Breakdance.

Tickets are currently open for shortlisted groups to reserve, while additional tickets will be released at a later date subject to availability.

Bailrigg FM is currently leading the nominations, with five nominations across different categories. LA1TV is close behind, with four nominations.

Taster Week Award: HipHop and Breakdance, Wildlife and Conservation, Benchball, Real Ale & Cider

Sustainability Award: Engineers without Borders, Enactus, Wildlife and Conservation, Issue – Fashion

Best Media Feature: Bailrigg FM and LA1TV – LUSU Election and Candidate Questions, Roses Live, SCAN – Lancaster Musical Festival , LA1TV – Candidate Interviews

Equality and Diversity Award: Acapella (Roselution), Afro-Caribbean Society, Bailrigg FM, Lancaster Roses Cheerleading

VP Societies and Media Award (For Individual Recognition): Ela Ozcan – Nightline, Caitlyn Taft – SCAN, Emily Walls – Lancaster Roses Cheerleading, Louise Jones – First Aid

Collaboration of the Year: LUBDS – Annual Charity Showcase, Nigerian Society and East African Society – Fake Wedding, Vietnam Society; Thai Society; Malaysian Student Society; PPI-Indonesian Society – First SEA Games 2024, LA1TV and Bailrigg FM – Battle of the Bands

Showcase and Performance of the Year: ULMS Brass Band – UniBrass, LUDanS – Lights, Camera, Action, LUDanS – Home Competition 2024, LUBDS – Annual Charity Showcase
