Lancaster University announces new Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Lancaster University have announced that Professor Rebecca Lingwood will be taking on the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor from July 2024.

Professor Lingwood, a higher education leader and professor of fluid dymanics, will take over the role from Professor Steve Bradley, who is retiring this year.

Lingwood most recently undertook the role of Provost at Brunel University London, and has also been Vice-Principal (Student Experience, Teaching and Learning) at Queen Mary University of London.

Professor Lingwood has previously co-led the establishment of two Institutes of Technology, introduced degree apprenticeship programmes and portfolios of fully online degree programs, and co-founded a University Technical College. She is also a member of the Board of the Institute for Educational and Social Equity.

Following the announcement, Lingwood said: “I am thrilled to be joining Lancaster University. I look forward to meeting everyone at Lancaster and working together on the many exciting opportunities, and tackling the challenges, to help the University meet its ambitious goals.”

Alongside the announcement, Vice-Chancellor Professor Andy Schofield has said that Professor Lingwood will play a “critical roal in the delivery of Lancaster’s ambitious academc vision and strategy and will also ensure that equality and diversity are integrated into all of our strategic planning.”
