Lancaster University drops 19 places in the QS World University Rankings
The university placed 141st overall
James CollinsonLancaster University has come 141st in the QS World University Rankings.
It is a drop of 19 places from the last academic year’s 122nd, Lancaster University’s second highest ever ranking.
Lancaster ranked 44th for sustainability in the world, again a drop from last year’s 26th place.
Vice Chancellor Professor Andy Schofield, said: “Lancaster is proud to hold a world-class reputation for teaching excellence and research. Our world leading research, strong global network and international partners, including our overseas campuses, enable us to drive forward ensuring we remain at the forefront of progress.”
Despite this year being a lower than average score, the university is still within the top 10 per cent of all the institutions worldwide. QS World Rankings also placed Lancaster as the 62nd best within Europe and 21st best within the UK.
As a subject, Linguistics earned an impressive third place worldwide, the only subject at Lancaster University to earn a place within its respective top 50.
Lancaster beat York University by 43 places, as they came 184th overall. However, York did come significantly higher in the sustainability rankings, at 26th.
