With the spring semester coming towards an end, many students might be looking for a house to live in for next year.

And you might want to avoid Evington Road.

A massive 62 crimes were committed on this road from September 2013 to June 2014, with an average of 6.2 crimes per month.

That’s more crimes than Victoria Park Road, London Road, Western Road and Upperton Road combined.

In November 2013 alone there were eleven crimes on Evington.

George, a Psychology student and Evington Road resident said: “I haven’t had any problems personally except of reporting for noisy neighbours.

“A lot of university students live on this road and I have heard some stories of mugging and theft.”

Welford Place takes up the second place as the most dangerous road in the city, with 37 crimes committed in the 10 month window.

Howard Road follows closely to be the third most dangerous road, with an average of 3.3 crimes a month.

The fourth and fifth most dangerous roads were Clarendon Park Road and Queens Road, with an average of 3.1 and 3 crimes per month respectively.

Queens Road

East Parks Road was the safest with not a single crime reported in 2013/2014.

Lytton Road followed very closely to be the safest with only 2 crimes reported, each in May and June 2014.

Ayesha, a resident of Lytton Road said: “I don’t know much about the crime in the area. I moved in just a while ago and it seems pretty safe.”
