We’re getting a brand new £1.5million art gallery

It’s not finished yet

Now you know why it looks like a huge mess in front of the Henry Wellcome building on campus.

According to the Coventry Telegraph, construction firm Stepnell is helping build a 1.5m art gallery at the University of Leicester.

This will be an extension to the already existing Richard Attenborough Centre, a contemporary art gallery that will increase in size by more than 400 square metres, split over two levels.

According to Professor Paul Boyle, this state of the art facility will be open to the public, and will showcase talent that will bridge a connection with diverse audiences across the region.

This is considered a prestigious project that is expected to establish a major new cultural landmark for the East Midlands.

Stepnell anticipates that the extension will be completed by autumn this year.
