The wait is finally over: Here is round one of the Cardiff BNOC competition 2022

Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean we can’t have a biggest name on campus

Our search for Cardiff’s Biggest Name on Campus 2022 is well and truly underway. The nominations are now closed and we have four nominees who are in with a chance of being crowned our winner.

The choice is yours so here is your chance to get to know our first candidates before making that all too important decision so don’t forget to vote at the bottom of the article.

Shreshth Goel, third year law, he/him – @boyincardiff / @shreshth.goel

Not only is he the president of CU Swifties, Shreshth is also the incoming VP for Societies and Volunteering for 2022/3.

His insta has seen him do a number of legendary, if somewhat questionable, things such as both writing his dissertation and knitting a sweater at the Cathays Terrace/Crwys Road traffic light.

He’s been described as energetic, flamboyant and kind by those that know him, but if that hasn’t convinced you enough then know that he did also once slide down the stairs at YOLO which is kind of iconic.

Henry Amery, MSc Psychology, he/they – @hezzamarezza

Henry is involved in both the Psychology and Healthcare Drama societies as well as being on the Education Executive Committee, but their nomination speaks for itself really as it’s been described that “every single person who meets him has a minimum of two mutual friends. Every. single. time.

“It’s infuriating but he deserves to be officially recognised so he can stop bragging about all the people he knows”.

Simran Patel, first year law and sociology, she/her – @_simrantara

Sim is described as a “shot of espresso” and the ultimate girls girl who serves as the “protector of girls from creepy men in clubs”.

She once managed to sneak a whole pizza and bottle of tequila into Liveys, which is the kind of energy we should all be aiming for tbh.

Alex Aitken, second year music, he/him – @alexander_aitken01

Alex is pretty busy around campus; as president of the Rowing Society this coming year and being on committees for both Sailing and Music it’s no wonder he’s on the shortlist.

One nominator described him as an “all around legend” who “just helps anyone and is known by everyone” – sounds like we all need an Alex in our lives.

So now you’ve met the first round of nominees for Cardiff’s Biggest Name on Campus, it’s time to vote!
