Both places appear to have been broken into by the same person

| UPDATED

The popular student cafe Social Eats was broken into at 00:43 on Thursday, 18th November. The incident was captured on a security camera. The police on Salisbury Road were alerted about the situation and attended to the scene.

This was the second break-in around Cathays on Thursday night, as TukTuk– the Thai restaurant on Crwys Road– reported a similar incident.

The thief took £20 in petty cash and stole a bank card from Social Eats. They also made serious damage to the cafe, leaving a window completely smashed.

The break-in was captured on a security camera that the cafe owner then shared to the popular Facebook group Overheard in Cardiff, prompting many responses sharing information on other break-ins that have been occurring around Cathays.

If you or anyone you know have information about these incidents, please reach out to respective eateries, or contact the police.
