Man re-arrested following new information on the death of Lauren Griffiths

He was arrested in April but released on bail


A man has been re-arrested in relation to the death of Lauren Griffiths, as a result of new information from the police investigation.

Lauren's body was found in her flat on Glynrhondda Street, Cathays, on the 30th of April. A 22-year-old man was arrested under suspicion of murder and later released on police bail awaiting further inquiries.

South Wales Police pursued further inquiries in hope of determining the the exact cause of Lauren's death, which lead to the same man being arrested for the second time yesterday.

In a statement released yesterday, Lauren's family described the last three months as "unbearable". They are still appealing for more information: "We are crying out if anyone does have information, please contact South Wales Police."

Detective Inspector Stuart Wales from South Wales Police major crime investigation team said: "It is three months today since Lauren’s body was sadly found at her flat in Cathays and since that time we have been conducting an extensive and thorough investigation into her death.

"As a result of these inquiries we have re-arrested a suspect and he is being questioned by South Wales Police detectives at a police station in North Wales."

South Wales Police have renewed their appeal for information, especially for anyone who may have spoken to Lauren between March 2018 and April 2019.
