Man accused of Gorsedd Gardens rape granted bail

He’s bailed to an address in Reading ahead of the trial


A 23-year-old student has been granted bail for the alleged Freshers’ Week rape in Gorsedd Gardens. 

Khalid Alahmadi, a University of South Wales student, was charged with the alleged attempted rape of a 19-year-old woman outside City Hall.

The assault was the third over a week and took place in Gorsedd Gardens on September 23rd.

The alleged attack took place during Freshers’ Week

He appeared in Cardiff Crown court on Tuesday to hear the conditions of his bail.

Judge Eleri Rees said that Alahmadi must wear an electronic tag and maintain an 8pm to 6am curfew, restricting activity during night time hours.

Alahmadi has had to surrender his passport and has a prohibition on seeking other documentation or travelling abroad.

His trial is set for February.
