Police release CCTV image after woman was sexually assaulted near Newcastle University

Northumbria Police believe this man may have witnessed the incident and could have valuable information


Northumbria Police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted near Newcastle University.

A report of a woman being approached by a man on King’s Walk was made between 7.20pm and 7.40pm on Saturday, February 3rd.

As part of their investigation, police have now released CCTV of a man who was believed to be in the area at the time of the incident and who may know information that could be valuable, ChronicleLive reports.

The alleged attacker was reported to have put his arms around the woman’s waist, before touching her chest multiple times over her clothes. The woman, who was filming a video with a friend at the time, was prevented from walking away by the man, who held his arms around her and refused to let her go.

After managing to break free, the woman walked to her car with a friend and left the area.

Investigating the incident, Northumbria Police are looking to trace a man who could assist the ongoing investigation. Releasing CCTV imagery of the individual who was reported to be in the area at the time, they are asking for him to come forward.

Sightings or information regarding the individual can be submitted using the “Report” page of the Northumbria Police website or call 101, quoting the crime reference number 013923X/24.
