Owner of The Gutsy Goose fined £2,000 for illegally selling alcohol

It’s the third time he’s been fined

The owner of The Gutsy Goose on Crwys Road has been fined for selling alcohol without a permit.

The owner, Darren Beddis, has been ordered to pay a fine of £2,000, as well as £100 in costs and £150 in victim surcharges. He has already faced similar charges this year.

According to Cardiff council, Beddis was previously fined £800 on June 19th for the same offence and received a conviction from Cardiff Magistrates Court alongside a £1,000 fine.

Prior to this, he had received another £1000 fine for “unauthorised exposing alcohol for sale and keeping alcohol on the premises for unauthorised sale.”

Despite having made requests to transfer the previous owners license and having contacted the council, Mr Beddis has said the popular breakfast destination was no longer selling alcohol and he doesn’t intend on applying for a license.

Chairwoman of Cardiff council’s public protection committee Jacqueline Parry said: “This case shows that the council will continue to take action against those who don’t abide by the law.”
