We beat Exeter, Reading and Oxford Brookes into the top 20 but Loughborough, Lancaster and Aston all beat us.

Cambridge took first place as the most employable university, with Oxford second.

A Cardiff University spokesperson said: “These results are encouraging and help confirm our reputation as amongst the best for student employability.

“They are especially encouraging as they come on the back of the latest HESA data, published earlier this year, which showed that Cardiff University graduates are more likely to be in employment, study or both within six months of graduating than any other leading Russell Group university in the UK.

“Advice is available on work placements, internships, work experience and opportunities to enhance CVs and broaden horizons.

“Support with job applications and interview techniques is also available.

“As a result, we are highly regarded by employers and have an excellent graduate employment record with students finding employment or entering further training.”
