Emily HousdenAmelia Watt, Oxford Brookes’ very own beauty queen is aiming for the top as she represents Oxfordshire in the finals of the beauty pageant fighting for the title of Miss Great Britain next month.
Amelia will be going up against around 50 other beauty contestants who are all looking to be crowned Miss Great Britain.
Juggling a Masters degree in Business Management has meant that Amelia has found this year very busy.
She says: “My days start very early and it’s starting to get hard to juggle as I’m trying to write my dissertation and get ready for a beauty pageant. I haven’t prepared as much as I’d have liked to this year”

However, Amelia is still looking forward to the pageant as she told us: “I’m really excited, I’m so lucky to win again this year, it really is an honour”
And she’s more than just a pretty face. This year she managed to grab the Miss Beauty Brains title in the Miss England competition in June. Amelia believes she has other attributes which have helped her go far in the beauty world.
She says: “I’m very honest, positive and I always try my best. The beauty pageants give me confidence in myself and it’s easy to be confident when you have the other girls to bounce off.
“It really does depend on what the judges are looking for though, I have lost beauty pageants before.”

The Miss Great Britain winner will be announced at a glamorous two day event from November 14th at Leicester’s Athena venue.
