Bournemouth beach flooded with tourists on hottest day of the year

The beach was covered in litter the next day

Thousands of people descended on Bournemouth beach yesterday on the hottest day of the year.

Photos shared on Twitter show the beach rammed with locals and tourists alike. Videos shared on social media captured the moment hundreds arrived in the station on their way to the beach.

The large crowds of people proved divisive. Liberal Democrat spokeswoman Vikki Slade said on Twitter: “Please DO NOT come to Dorset yet.

“We are NOT ready. Hotels, attractions, museums and restaurants are closed. Your visit will be much more enjoyable if you come after July 4 when we will be fully prepared for your visit.”

Photos taken early this morning show the beach covered in litter and abandoned tents:
