Northern Rail is selling more than a million £1 train tickets

The flash sale will be offered on some routes, including Newcastle, throughout September and October

More than a million £1 train fares are on sale for journeys from 6th September 2022 and will last for nearly two months, right in time for the start of semester.

Passengers have chance to travel to cities including Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds for just £1 via online or on the Northern app, if bought seven days in advance.

Tickets are already on sale now and can be bought for journeys up until Thursday 20th October 2022 for a limited time only.

If you’ve not booked your train back to the Toon yet, then click here to try and get your fare for next to nothing.

Mark Powles, customer and commercial director at Northern said: “Whether it’s for a weekend in the historic city of Chester, a night out in Newcastle; a day at the seaside in Scarborough, or a walking holiday in the Lake District – these fares will get you where you want to be for less. Tickets are on a first-come, first serve basis – so those looking to take advantage of these great £1 fares should book early to avoid disappointment. When they’re gone, they’re gone.”

There’s around a five to 10 percent chance of getting your hands on a discounted ticket, with some peak-time services being excluded.

As things currently stand there are no plans for rail strikes in September, but the RMT union have said that more strikes are likely in the future.
