Enactus is putting on a Tropical Fest fundraising event

It’s being held at The Tyne Bar

Newcastle’s Enactus society are holding their last fundraiser of the year: a tropical themed festival on Saturday May 6th down at The Tyne Bar, Quayside.

Enactus is a non-profit organisation who describe themselves as “a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world” on their website.

The event is £5, which goes towards the social projects that Enactus do. The money helps Enactus students to take their projects further and make a difference in people’s lives in both global and local projects. An example of one project is Dufatanye, and they make sanitary pads out of banana peels for women in Rwanda.

The festival seems like the prefect escape from revision with the promise of cheap booze, burgers and blow-ups.

The Tab spoke to one of the event organisers, second year Joey Li, who said: “For our last fundraiser of the year we decided to go all out, prep everyone for the summer and de-stress with £1.60 beers, hot dogs, the good old Woo Woo’s and some sex on the beach (not literally but potentially upon request). We also want to show off all the incredible talent that will be performing from the day through to night.”

There will be live performances from a number of student musicians and DJ’s – you can see the line up below:
