Newcastle tops Oxbridge and Durham in new uni rankings

The rankings were based on student opinion

Analysis of over 25,000 student reviews on website Whatuni.com has revealed that Newcastle University ranks 11th in the UK. The rankings were based on accommodation, city life, clubs & societies, job prospects, student union and student support services.

Overall, the data shows that student satisfaction across all 100 universities reviews has increased for the second year running – from 81 percent last year to 83 percent now – but four areas have seen pretty significant drops: including job prospects, student support, clubs & societies and student union.

Newcastle University beat both Oxford and Cambridge, which came 50th and 46th respectively; and Durham, which came 29th. Northumbria came 33rd, whilst other big city northern universities ranked 41st (Liverpool); 89th (Manchester); 5th (Leeds); and 21st (Sheffield).

Harper Adams University in Shropshire topped the list, whilst Winchester came 100th.
