There’s been a robbery at a Jesmond jewellers

Police have cordoned off AC Silver next to Fat Hippo

Thornleigh Road, West Jesmond has been closed off by police after reports of a robbery in the early hours of the morning at a Jewellers.

There are up to eight police vehicles including a police van and around a dozen police officers attending the scene at Jesmond jewellers ‘AC Silver’.

The shop, which is next door to Fat Hippo, has been sealed off by Police, who are giving very limited details on the situation.

A cashier at Starbucks told The Tab that there had been a robbery at the Jewellers in the early morning. It was thought burglars used hammers to smash through the windows of the jewellers.

The shop has been open in West Jesmond since 1999 and is owned by Newcastle-born Andrew Campbell.

The scene was captured on The Tab’s snapchat @thetabnewcastle
