Liberty Quay Student Arrested

Sword? Machete? Disturbing images? We paint the true picture here.

| UPDATED arrest dead girls exclusive firearms gun liberty halls machete northumbria quay point halls student sword

A quiet Sunday night turned into a trip to the nick for one Northumbria student after police found A SWORD in his room.

Bizarrely, Liberty Quay Halls (formerly Quay Point) denied any weapons had been found, but a Northumbria Police spokesman told The Tab they had seized a sword and released the student on bail.

He said: “Officers attended a flat on Stepney Lane in Newcastle on Sunday January 27th and arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He was subsequently released on police bail. A sword was located at the address and has been seized.”

The police presence sparked rumours over the arrest and Liberty Quay Halls issued a statement today attempting to quell the gossip, and denying the sword was found.

Hush hush!

This photo was uploaded by fellow Liberty Quay resident Rebecca Maguire (@beki22) and she wrote in the tweet: “feeling a little bit better about living in quay point”.

Sorry Beki but your neighbour did in fact have a sword in his room, however it has now been seized by the police and the student bailed pending further enquiries.

Beki was not the only one to join the speculative frenzy. Unfounded rumours on Twitter suggested the student had a gun and photos of dead girls hidden in his room.

Amusing to some

Robbie was closer than some others as the inevitable ridiculous rumours began to spread like wildfire:

“Any time but Sunday night”

Then of course the rumours become so ridiculous that you begin to question the entire episode:

Idiocy

Much to everyone’s relief the police reported no firearms or meth labs. Just a sword.
