The Lincoln Tab is a news site written by Lincoln students, for Lincoln students. Anyone is welcome to join, you do not need any journalism experience and you have the chance to be involved in one of the largest student news sites in the country.
What is The Tab?
The Tab is a student news site across over 30 different UK universities, with over 10 million readers. By writing for The Lincoln Tab, we will share your articles on our social media sites including our Lincoln Tab Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.
There is no limit on the range of stories we cover. We are the first to break stories and get exclusives in Lincoln, such as the university offering a 20 per cent rent reduction to students in halls and the Lincoln fresher who made a beach in his accommodation bedroom.
We talk about student’s mental health and cover events that take place in Lincoln.
We also do features like talking to the UoL student who appeared on Naked Attraction; figuring out which Lincoln halls you should live in based on how you spend Valentine’s Day, and rounding up all the best memes relating to students.
Why should I write for The Tab?
Writing for us at The Lincoln Tab means your stories will reach thousands of readers.
The Tab is a great way to get involved in different journalistic opportunities. No experience is needed at all, and we will train you to write for us. You can write as much or as little as you want around your uni deadlines and studies.
This is what we are looking for:
• Students who can post quick news pieces or write relatable and current features
• People who can make the best memes and social media supremes who can get involved in our Instagram to create engaging posts
Our team works with an Assistant Editor, who is based at The Tab HQ in London. They offer training for all our team in reporting news and provide insight into writing stories that’ll be read by thousands of people.
If you are looking to gain media/journalism experience, The Tab can lead to amazing opportunities. Those who have previously written for The Tab have gone on to work for the BBC, VICE, and Vogue.
