Storm…what storm?

Leicester escapes the storm that has devastated the south with students spending their day out in the sun.

The storm currently battering the south of Britain has not affected Leicester, with students enjoying the sunny weather.

Students at the university were able to bask in sunshine today after fearing the worst after last night’s storm.

There was just a hint that it had rained overnight as roads and paths were still damp but the torrential downpours and gale force winds have not been seen or felt.

Seeing as everyone is from the south, students will be glad to be away from some of the areas that have been badly effected.

BBC forecasters are now saying that the storm has ended in the UK but gale-force winds could still be felt across southern Britain.

The storm has caused severe disruption to the railway network, caused around 270,000 homes to lose power and Dungeness B to close down.
