Student arrested for using poster paint

For the second time

This afternoon, members of King’s College Climate Emergency held another demonstration outside Strand in their ongoing efforts to get the university to completely divest from fossil fuel companies.

Relations between members and the university seemed to be improving after management agreed to a meeting which was due to take place this week.

However, student Roger Hallam who was recently reinstated after his suspension was arrested for a second time.

Naomi Kreitman who was at the protest said: “Roger was arrested for criminal damage after painting a few letters in poster paint on one of the pillars, he is in custody now.

“King’s security saw us loitering and phoned the police, who were ready and waiting before we even got up by the pillars.”

This comes after members of the Green party, including Sian Berry wrote an open letter to Principal Ed Byrne supporting the activists.
