Ow ow ow, Merry Christmas

Welsh legend and writer of Gavin and Stacey, Ruth Jones, is heading to Barry as Nessa Shanessa Jenkins to turn on the Christmas lights as part of Barry Christmas Weekender.

With the anticipation and excitement for the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special (which fans have waited a decade for), there's no better way to start Christmas in Barry than with the famous Nessa.

The annual Christmas lights ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 23 at 6:30pm in King Square, Holton Road. Following the switch on, there will be a free open-air showing of the beloved Christmas film, Home Alone.

In addition to the lights, there will be a Christmas market on Holton Road, alongside live music, street entertainment and a visit from Santa and his elves.

Barry is the iconic setting for the much loved series, and since filming for the Christmas special took place over summer, the town has received more interest and attention than ever.
