Cardiff University announced as one of the top 40 most innovative universities in Europe

It’s the only Welsh university in the top 100

Cardiff University has jumped nine places in the most recent list of Reuters’ Top 100 Most Innovative Universities, leaving the university as the 36th best in Europe and 8th in the UK.

The list is influenced by the frequency with which universities file patents and academic papers, as well as the nature of any industry collaborations.

Since last year’s list was released, Cardiff University has seen an increase of over £13 million towards its collaborative research funding, the largest shift in the UK.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Colin Riordan, was pleased to celebrate this improvement in Cardiff’s performance. “Innovation is central to our strategy, as our £300m investment in our Innovation Campus testifies. We continue to build partnerships with industry, generate spin-outs, nurture academic enterprise and support student start-ups.”
