A new night bus service is due to launch in Cardiff

It launches this Sunday

Cardiff Bus have announced that a night bus service will be running throughout the city from 18th September.

The night bus will offer a new mode of transport home for clubbers and people enjoying the capital’s nightlife.

Route 38 will run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights into the early hours, transporting the public from City Road, Crwys Road, Whitchurch Road, and Heath Hospital to the city and back again.

The night bus will take students back to their halls of residence

The service will also be making extra stops at Tesco Extra and Talybont Halls of Residence across the weekends.

Cardiff University students have previously expressed fears of travelling home alone after a night out in the city after a spate of sexual attacks during Freshers’ Week last year.

A night bus was briefly introduced back in April this year when a handful of taxi drivers went on strike.

Fares will apply on the night bus. Passengers will have to buy either a single ticket or a night return ticket.  Weekly, monthly and annual passes can also be purchased.

Tickets will be sold on the 38/38A buses from 6pm every day costing £3.
