Uber is launching in Cardiff this Friday

It will start running from 4pm

After much speculation and a long awaited arrival, Uber will be launching in Cardiff this Friday from 4pm.

The taxi firm has received a huge response ahead of their new launch, with 125,000 people downloading the app in the last 90 days.

A trip from Cardiff Central Station to Cathays will cost approximately £4.70, and new users can receive up to £15 off their first trip by downloading the app and entering the code CARDIFF15.

The company have warned that their service will operate under very busy conditions during the first few days.

Uber started advertising for drivers in June and was granted its operator licence by Cardiff City Council in January. Rumours surrounding the taxi app’s launch date began last Friday, when the ‘Bring Uber to Cardiff’ Facebook Page shared a post announcing it would start operating this week.

Uber currently operates in 15 UK cities, including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Belfast and Bristol.
