Despite driving rain, gale force winds and only four hours of sunshine we caught up with this lot…

Friendly Edinburgh born singer songwriter we met during an impromptu gig on the bus from the campsite. Described by Jamie Cullum as a ‘natural songwriter’ and with Dizzee Rascal as a fan it won’t be long until you recognise this face. His album ‘This Time This Place‘ is well worth a listen for acoustic lovers and he can be found at festivals all over the UK this summer. Made up of Tom Dale and Denis Brice, both from Southport and performing as Seattle Yacht Club for a year. Tom’s just graduated from Lancaster University and upcoming gigs include Brighton, London and Liverpool. The likeable double act describe themselves as ‘electro art pop,’ sound like Two Door Cinema Club and influences are far and wide from Michael Jackson to The Zutons and Arcade Fire. Give them a listen, future hits include ‘Same Old Questions’ and keep an eye out for a video and single release coming up later this year.

Established duo of rising stars Aluna Francis (vocals) and George Reid (production). Catchy song of the summer ‘Attracting Flies’ has been stuck in our heads all month and you might recognise them for their collaboration with Disclosure on number two hit ‘White Noise’. The pair are both big fans of the student crowd and applauded their fans for weathering gale force coastal winds during their beach break set. Best bit was they gave us beer from their rider, she liked my shorts and they’re fans of Cardiff’s own Noodlebox. Album ‘Body Music‘ released later this month is definitely worth a listen and keep an eye out for them across the festival scene this summer.

Sailors’ club Sunday night line up finished the festival perfectly with a sell out set from Skream, Eats Everything and Jackmaster Roska.

 

 

An event spokesman told guests: “Main stage at Fistral is being moved to another venue due to high winds making the stage unsafe. We can’t control the weather but we can continue the party!”

Word amongst the stewards was that the roof blew off overnight, although it did little to dampen party goers spirits and the festival continued at the campsite.
