St Andrew’s bash shut down after drunk punters behave badly

Ballers were thrown out before dessert

| UPDATED

The St Andrew’s Ball descended into madness last night and the party had to be cancelled – all before the guests had finished their dinner.

Nearly 500 guests were kicked out of Hilton Treetops Hotel when drunk revelers dropped the ball by throwing tables and food around.

Other ballers pointed fingers at members of the Rugby club for the disaster after three tables of 12 made a scene.

The Rugby President Andrew Mustard said: “The rugby club were not at this event, therefore I cannot comment on the behaviour of individuals.”

The ball was attended by the most eligible social butterflies in “long dresses and looking all made up”.

But the entire event was called off by staff at 10:30pm before some guests had been served their main course.

The party then moved to Institute early leaving a lot of pissed off punters.

Past balls have been more tame

Fourth year Charlotte said: “I paid £50 just for a ticket, and now I’m starving stood in a queue to get into Institute.

“I want a pudding, I’m fucking hungry.

“I went to the ball because it was bound to be my last one, and it was going to be the last nice thing I did before the exams.

“That’s been ruined.”

Reality of Macdonalds

Others were texting their mates who didn’t get their tickets in time – which turned out to be a godsend. One student said: “That’s £50 down the drain!”

The whole show was in aid of the charity Movember.

Angry punters asked for their money back but the committee refused.

One committee member said: “People have been coming and asking for their money back, but it’s not our fault.

“We worked really hard to pull this off for them.”

Others are requesting the rugby club fork out for the ballers’ ruined evening.

Effectively told go home and reevaluate what charity means.

And to top it off, taxi drivers were told to stay away from the hotel, despite it being over two miles from the after-party.

One taxi driver said: “I’ve been told to stay well away from that.”

Some of the party goers had to call in for back up: “I had to get my brother to pick me up, all the taxi companies said they were fully booked or unable to attend.”
