King Street tops national pollution statistics

King Street has been named amongst four streets in Aberdeen as being some of the worst polluted in the country.

Wellington Road, Market Street and Union Street have also topped the tables in research by Friends of the Earth Scotland. They have shown increasingly dangerous levels of nitrogen dioxide, often linked to asthma and other respiratory problems.

Lovely

Furthermore, Market Street is the worst in Scotland for particulate matter pollution. In 2008 the particulate matter was claimed to be the cause of death for 1,560 people in Scotland, according to the Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollutants. Perhaps for the sake of our health we should avoid getting our nails done at the dodgy Chinese market on Market Street.

Perhaps surgical masks would block out the fishy smell lingering around Tesco

Friends of the Earth have undertaken this research in an attempt to reduce pollution, claiming that air pollution is currently a greater threat to health than road traffic accidents. In the meantime, it would be best to avoid the stench of King Street at all costs.
