University of Sussex sports tour to Croatia cancelled due to coronavirus

The company felt they have been left with no other choice

This morning ‘ILOVETOUR’ circulated an email which announced their decision to cancel all tours to Croatia 2020.

ILOVETOUR is famous for organising the world’s biggest sports tours where university sports teams gather every Easter break.

The email read “It is with deep sadness to announce that ILOVETOUR have made the decision to cancel all tours to Croatia 2020”

“We want to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we must put your welfare and safety at the forefront of our decision making. With the current state of the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak, we believe that it is the most responsible action to take at this time.

“The Croatian authorities have advised against gatherings of over 1000 people; this is coupled with the news that Croatian authorities have introduced a compulsory 14 day period of self-isolation for all foreign nationals arriving from the UK.

“ILOVETOUR believe there is no other choice but to cancel the 2020 offerings.”

Sports teams are keen to reschedule or organise alternatives. A representative from one Sussex sports society spoke exclusively to The Sussex Tab saying “We’re so devastated that tour has been cancelled, it’s such a highlight of every year.

“We’re trying to come up with some alternatives about rescheduling but at the moment we’re considering organising a massive beach party on Brighton beach on Saturday 28th March and hopefully Pryzm will be willing to help out in hosting an afterparty.

“Maybe we’re even get discounted coronas!”.

The announcement comes after increasing concerns regarding the CoVID-19 outbreak.
