The Complete University Guide have published their 2019 rankings and it's bad news for both Brighton and Sussex. Both universities dropped significantly in the national league table.

The University of Sussex has fallen six places from last year, only just managing to hold on to a place in the top 25. Brighton Uni has fallen a total of 17 places, leaving them in position 106 – out of the top 100 for the first time since 2007.

Sussex Uni released a statement on the matter: “While we’re pleased to remain in the top 25 universities, we feel that league tables only tell you so much. Here at Sussex we focus on offering a fantastic experience for our students that isn’t measured by the league tables.

"There are so many things that make Sussex so special – so whilst league tables are of course important, they don’t guide the decisions we make about what we offer our students.”

A spokesman for the University of Brighton said: “While we are disappointed with this result we know the vast majority of our students are satisfied with their courses and learning experience."

The rankings take into account student satisfaction, research quality, student to staff ratio, spending on facilities and more.
