Sussex Students’ Union is planning a new summer festival

They want you to get involved with the planning

It was announced today that the University of Sussex Students' Union is planning to host a festival just before exam season begins, with the purpose of celebrating all of the hard work you've undoubtedly been putting in this year. This announcement follows the huge success of Sussex Festival during Freshers at the beginning of the year.

The Students' Union is reaching out to students to help decide on acts, themes and the design layout of the festival. No date, location or structure has yet been confirmed, as the festival is still in the planning stage.

The Union will be hosting a planning session on February 8 in Jubilee 118 at 5pm. Spaces at the planning session are limited, so if you want to get involved you need to email [email protected] with the subject line USSU festival planning.

Lucy Williams, the Activities Officer, revealed all of the details in the following post.

'On my manifesto I promised bigger and better events at Sussex, a big part of the reason I ran for officer is because in my first year at Sussex I didn't think the SU events were as good as they could have been.

'We're planning on having a big festival at the end of term before revision and exam season and stress kicks in to celebrate everyone's hard work and a great year at Sussex.

'We want this to have as much student input as possible, this is your Students' Union and you should have the biggest say on what we do and how we do it. We want to know what your dream festival would look like, what acts you want to see, what the theme should be and how the day should run. We are holding our first planning session in the Thursday of Refreshers (8th Feb) at 5pm in Jubilee 118.

'To attend you must sign up before Monday 5th at 5pm. Places ARE limited, so please email me at [email protected] with the subject line USSU festival planning.'
