FS shoot sets the bar high

After watching FS2012’s introductory model video, a few words come to mind: organic, sophisticated, fresh. The show is taking a decisive step away from previous shows for their 20th anniversary year.

With Laura Fisher at the helm, FS2012 is “looking to raise the bar to where a student event can make some waves in the charitable world. The mission is to create an entire lifestyle, a brand, a movement, and have it culminate in the end goal itself: the fashion show.” Fisher accentuates every detail that goes into the preparation for the show each year, so this week we were introduced to the models!

The theme of this first shoot for the models’ page was nature. Off the bat: great theme and smart interpretation of the theme in the styling of the shoot. I particularly enjoyed the incorporation of smoke, water, and gold flakes.

When you access the models’ photos on the FS2012 website, the whole feel of it is drastically different from how the models were presented to us last year. The website design is chic and sleek. Instead of amateur full body shots, as in previous years, you scroll through professional beauty shots depicting only part of the models’ faces. Although we’re only seeing part of a whole, the models’ physical beauty and the theme of texture and nature come across eloquently.

Another nice addition is the little bits and bobs of personal information about the models; this brings them down to earth (oh why not, we were just discussing the nature theme, so pun intended.) It’s nice to know super hot people still dislike the same mundane things as most people e.g. “chewed gum, picking the wrong line in the grocery store and burnt popcorn” or “hatefulness, indecision, and celery”!

I was also pleased to see a lot of fresh faces, with many rookies joining the ranks; David Widmann you bite that berry! And of course, some familiar faces as well (such as 6th year FS veteran, Paul Obi).

Overall FS has a very clear vision this year. Last year it set the bar quite high with an incredibly successful show, but this year the emphasis is clearly on the details. And so far, every detail has been impeccably thought out. Every facet of the behind-the-scenes video and the model photos is inspiring.

The music in the video, as in the previous FS video, is perfect. It’s trendsetting, and the beat just makes you want to join their party.

They’ve really raised our expectations with this one, and the stand looks forward to seeing where they go from here.
