Once again the University has let its students down by cocking up the release of grades for final year students.

It comes as no surprise that the new results system failed to deliver many students’ results – with some students being told they’d been awarded 99% or 0% for some modules. A new webpage, results.soton.ac.uk, was designed to deliver results to all students, with final year’s receiving theirs today and all other students expected to view theirs on Friday 28th June.

Some students received their grades and degree classification accurately but many were forced to log-in through the original Student Self-Service System via SUSSED to find out their grades and degree classification.

Academic Presidents and Faculty Officers were informed by iSolutions last month that a new results delivery system would be in place which was successfully tested to handle 10,000 simultaneous log-ins. The new site has allowed many students to log-in yet cannot view their results. Students were also told that the emailing of exam results would not occur this year until at least 5pm, despite students praising the initiative in January. Clearly, the University needs to listen to its customers (students).

results.soton.ac.uk redirects to this page. 10k log-in success? Yeah, right.

Some students were displayed grades which were completely false, such as achieving 99% or 0% in nearly every module. Other students were not told their final classification but were presented with the message:

No decision available at this time

Southampton students took to Twitter to express their outrage:

Despite the new website being a total fail, results for final year students can be accessed through here.

An announcement from iSolutions will be released shortly.
