Violent Robbery on Chamberlain Road

The common Portswood violence has now spread up to leafy Highfield.

A man was mugged on Monday evening on Chamberlain Road, close to Highfield campus.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened between 9:10 and 9:20pm on Monday 15th October on Chamberlain Road, close to the University’s Shackleton and Physics buildings. An 18 year old man was knocked over by one of two people on bikes, where they then demanded his wallet, which he did not have.

The man was punched in the head and had his iPod and Samsung phone stolen. The second cyclist then searched the victim’s pockets. The first person then hit him in the face again.

The two robbers proceeded to cycle off down Hawthorn Road. They have been described as male, one black, one white and around 6ft tall. Both had mountain bikes.
