Newcastle University Fashion Society’s annual fashion show is back!

The event will be held at the Discovery Museum on June 4th

It’s back – and this year with a bang, as Mythology is set to be this year’s theme at the Fashion Society’s annual fashion show after two years of disruptions. Being cancelled due to the pandemic in 2020 and subsequently moved online in 2021, this years show is looking to be the biggest yet. Be prepared to be wowed.

Whether you’re a bit of a sewer yourself or simply just interested in seeing their new styles, the event is open to all. Their teasers show iconic and daring pieces so we absolutely cannot wait to see what they have in store for the show.

Fashion editor Neelam Majumder said: “We’ve got a great range of designers, a mix of experience levels and a lot of amazing projects currently in progress. Some of this year’s designers have only recently picked up sewing from our weekly workshops and it will be amazing to see what they put out on the runway after only a year of lessons.

“The theme this year has so much scope for variety in designs and our collection is covering such a wide range of styles, from tailor made outerwear to up-cycled corseted gowns”.

The society is also conscious of the environmental repercussions of the fashion industry, with growing focus on sustainable garments and responsible sourcing. Neelam added: “We’re trying to keep our environmental impact low so the majority of the materials we’re using are second hand fabrics and garments sourced from local charity shops, though the pieces will be unrecognisable by the time they hit the catwalk!”.

Tickets are available via the Fashion Society page on the Student Union’s website here, with tickets from £14 for second row, £17 for front row and £21 for VIP, including seat guarantee, canapés, a drink on arrival and entry to the after party located at Jesmond Beach Box.

It’s definitely an event you don’t want to miss – and be sure to tag your pictures with the society on instagram (@nufashion_).
