CONFIRMED: Glasgow Uni to raise tuition fees

English, Welsh and Irish students enrolling next year will face a rise in fees

In the 2017 academic year, Glasgow Uni is set to raise tuition fees from £9,000 to £9,250 per annum for English, Welsh and Irish students.

The uni plans to cap these fees at £9,250 for three years, with no charge for the fourth year. Students that plan to study at Glasgow for five years doing medicine, dentistry or veterinary degrees will be charged £9,250 every year for five years.

Speaking to student newspaper The Glasgow Gaurdian, a spokesperson for the uni said: “The decision to set tuition fees for rUK students at £9,250 from 2017 is in line with many of our peer universities across the UK.

“We have agreed that the level of fees charged will not be increased retrospectively – in other words, it will not be amended or increased during the course of a student’s programme.”

The implication of this raise on prospective students is yet unknown but will most likely become clear as the year progresses. The change will not implicate students who are currently enrolled at Glasgow.
