Tributes paid to Glasgow Uni students killed in George Square crash

A fresher and a graduate were among the dead


The university have paid tribute to two victims of the horrific George Square crash identified as Glasgow students. 

The crash, which happened after a bin lorry lost control and mounted the crowded pavement, has killed six people.

It was confirmed today that one of the six people killed yesterday was Erin Mcquade and Stephenie Tait, a Glasgow graduate.

The University of Glasgow have released a statement on both their facebook and twitter pages, stating:

“We are deeply saddened to hear that one of our students was one of those tragically killed in George Square yesterday. Thoughts and prayers with the family of Erin McQuade.”

Also killed was Stephenie Tait, a graduate of the University who went on to become a primary school teacher.

Glasgow gave their condolences, saying: “So sorry to learn that Stephenie Tait, who also died in yesterday’s tragedy, was a Glasgow Graduate. Our sympathies to the family.”
