One of the Queen Street fatalities was a USW fashion graduate
Her boyfriend was also stabbed
This morning Zoe Morgan, a Fashion Marketing and Retail graduate from University of South Wales, was fatally stabbed on Queen Street.
Zoe was found alongside her boyfriend of four months, 33-year-old Lee Simmons, who was also killed in the attack.
The couple were attacked after a nightshift at Matalan where they both worked.
They were discovered outside the building just before 6 a.m.
A 20-year-old man from Newport has been arrested in connection with the incident, and is being held at Cardiff Bay police station. He was arrested in the Castleton area outside the city.
The Major Crime team is now investigating the incident, with more details expected to be revealed in the coming hours and days.
Ambulances and forensic teams were present for a number of hours. Police cordoned the high street from the Churchill Way entrance to Cardiff Castle.
A rapid response car and vehicles of the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team were also at the site.
Shops along the street will remain closed today however the street has now been reopened to the public.
