Student dies unexpectedly at Cardiff University

The police are treating the death as unsuspicious

South Wales Police are investigating the unexplained death of a 20-year-old male student at Cardiff University.

He was found in the Queen’s building, which is home to the School of Engineering, near Senghenydd Hall and the Trevithick library around 2pm yesterday afternoon. Once found, he was rushed to University Hospital of Wales, where he later died.

The man was found in the Queen’s building

South Wales Police have released a statement saying: “At this early stage we do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances but an investigation to establish what happened is ongoing. Furthermore, if any students have any information the police urge you to please contact 101 on their student welfare officer immediately.”

An email was sent out those who study in the Queen’s Building verifying that it had reopened after being evacuated yesterday, but the central stairwell remained off limits.

The student’s next of kin have been informed of the news and a file of evidence is being prepared.
