Round-ups: Day One, Day Two, Day Three, Day Four

——————————————————————————————————

1730 Lent Bumps 2012. C’est fini

1724 we hope you have enjoyed the (boat) ride as much as we have. We are probably going to lie down in a darkened room for sometime. Or more likely go to the pub, grab a pint and watch some more sport. Standard

1718 so that really is it, Ladies and Gents. Lents in all their glory. We have seen it all – chaos, carnage and concusssion. Lents 2012 really have lived up to expectition

1710 At the very top there was no change as Caius were strong enough to hold off the challenge from Downing. Queens’ broke into the top four while Kings slipped out the division. Here’s the final reckoning

1. Caius M1

1700 M2 was full of action with almost every boat bumping. There were significant changes at the top with Downing charging up while Fitz continuing their slide from M1. Here’s how they finished up:

1. King’s M1

16.51 Next up was M3. Kitchen stores around Cambridge may have to be braced on a run for wooden spoons. Four teams picked up spoons – in the process St Ed’s relinquished headship of the river. The full run down is as follows:

16.41 It may seem like an eternity ago, but M4 kicked us off today. It was all about Downing, or more precisely what they were not able to achieve as they missed out on blades. Here’s the full line-up:

1.Clare Hall M1

16.Girton M3

17.Corpus M2

18.Selwyn M3

1623 But at the top it stay the same. Downing gave it a real go today, pushing hard round Grassy Corner, but Caius had the strength to pull away again in the second half of the course.

1629 As that well known sporting expression states, it’s all over now. But before we leave you, let’s run through the updated results. We are that good to you.

1610 It’s been a horrible week for Kings as they have been relegated down the division. They were caught by sandwich boat Selwyn.

1605 In the midfield, there is a glut of blades as Girton, Christs and Robinson all get theirs.

1602 They have been on their tails all week and Queens finally get their bump by catching FaT to break into the magic circle.

1600 Downing already pushing Caius hard…it’s all happening on the final day.

1554 It may be stationary at the top, but M1 has had plenty of movers and shakers down the order. Girton are on for blades to make it an excellent week for the boat house. Meanwhile, Kings will need to avoid spoons to stay in this division.

1536 This is it, then. The curtain is almost down on Lents 2012, but not before M1 have had their fun on the Cam.

1516 Those may have been the headlines in M2, but there was action all over the place – unbelievably, only boats at the top and bottom were not involved in bump action.

1513 Churchill are unable to escape as they are bumped by Caius for spoons. Winston will not be pleased.

1509 in a titanic struggle, Downing claim their blades this time as they hunt down Fitz who a resigned to spoons. The highs and lows of Bumps summed up right there.

1508 ARU round off an excellent week by claiming the scalp of Queens’ to get their blades. Christs also managed to pocket some blades.

1504 In a battle of the big boys – Maggie get FaT in the gut.

1500 And they’re off!

1454 Christs and ARU will also be looking for a cause of celebration tonight. Meanwhile, it could be double trouble for Churchill as a second boat is on for spoons

1449 Downing have been on the charge in Lents 2012 and will hope this continues as they chase Fitz who have been going in the opposite direction. Will a second Downing boat be scuppered today?

1447 We’re moving towards the penultimate race of the day. Let’s role the M2 starting list:

M2

1. Selwyn M1 (+2)

2. Fitz M1 (-3)

3. Downing M2 (+3)

4. Churchill M2 (-3)

5. Caius M2 (-1)

13. Christ’s M2 (+3)

14. Queens’ M2 (-1)

15. ARU M1 (+3)

16. Emma M2 (-2)

17. Corpus M1 (-2)

18. Darwin M1

1442 There’s a bit of a lull in the action as we wait for the galaticos of the Cam aka M2 and M1.

1424 It was a particular disappointing week for those involved in the St Ed’s project. Having started the week Head of the River, they plummeting down the charts, picking up spoons today as they were bumped by Selywn. Ouch.

1415 As well as there being blades galore (just imagine the £ signs), several teams pick up spoons including FaT, Churchill, Jesus and Robinson. Bit of a casualty list there. At least, wooden spoons are available from all good Sainsbury’s – at significantly less cost.

1411 But Hughs Hall got there faster, bumping up on Churchill M2 at First Post Corner to secure their blades.

1407 Girton and Catz have already got their blades. It didn’t take them long. Catz have already got the flag up.

1405 And they begin their merry journey down the Cam!

1356 M3 hasn’t disappointed in Lents 2012 with action all down the field. Several boats will have their eyes on blades including Hughs Hall, Catz and Girton. Will they be successful?

1355 Here’s the line-up for M3:

1. Darwin M1 (+2)

2. Peterhouse M2 (+2)

3. St Edmund’s M1 (-3)

15. LMBC M3 (+2)

16. Robinson M2 (-3)

17. Caius M3 (-2)

18. Clare Hall

1351 But it’s still all about Downing. “They were robbed” is the cry. Bumps wouldn’t be the same without a bit of controversy. We love it.

1346 It was an action packed race to kick us off – M4 continued what they have been doing all week with many boats swapping places.  They love a bump.

1341 At the other end, Selwyn M3 have picked up spoons for their week’s work. Might as well enjoy that wine at Bumps dinner tonight. There’s always an answer.

1336 So no luck for Downing. Despite their protests, the umpires have awarded technical row overs  for the boats which were blocked. It means those blades will not be making an appearance tonight.

1322 In fact, the carnage followed further down the division with bumps aplenty. However, all the focus is on Downing: will they demand a re-row?

1315 Carnage in the midfield. a bump between Christ’s and Pembroke has seemingly wrecked Downing blades chances. Downing were forced to stop rowing as there route was blocked by the boats ahead: they are furious.

1308 The first action of the day: ARU have caught Queens M4.

1304 Downing are the boat to watch of course as they will be aiming for blades.

1301 M4 kick us off….

1. Clare Hall M1 (+1)

2. Addenbroke’s M1 (-1)

3. Queens’ M1 (+1)

15. LMBC M4 (+1)

18. Selwyn M3

14.05: LMBC have bumped Robinson and there’s a crash! Caius ram into LMBC and Clare Hall have rowed past them!!! What will the umpires make of that?

14.03: Early bumps! Peterhouse on St. Ed’s, Selwyn on Magdalene, Clare on Churchill, Catz on King’s, Hughes Hall on FaT.

14.00: We’re off. Seven boats still eligible for spoons, five for blades.

18. Clare Hall (+1)

13.52: No M4 today so we’re straight into M3. Up to date table in a few moments’ time.

13.51: Congratz to Catz. See what I did there? Wonderful effort from the girls and they brought a video camera down to the banks specially. First blades of the week. Many apologies to Wolfson for tainting them with insinuations of spoons!

13.50: So here’s a final table!

W3

1. Caius II (-1)

2. Downing II (+2)

3. Clare II (+2)

4. Tit Hall (+3)

5. Darwin II (-3)

6. Wolfson I (-3)

7. Peterhouse II (-1)

8. Sidney II

9. Girton II (+1)

10. Murray Edwards II (+2)

11. Hughes Hall

12. Clare Hall (-3)

15. Christ’s III (+1)

16. FaT III (-3)

17. LMBC III (-3)

18. Emma III Spoons

13.43: Major corrections coming through. Wolfson, Peterhouse, Sidney and Girton all rowed over. Table amended beneath.

13.36: So here’s the final table as we’re calling it right now:

W3

1. Caius II

2. Downing II

3. Clare II

4. Tit Hall (+1)

5. Darwin II (-1)

6. Wolfson I

7. Peterhouse II

8. Sidney II

9. Girton II

10. Murray Edwards II (+1)

11. Hughes Hall (-1)

12. Clare Hall

13. Catz II (+1) Blades

14. ARU II (-1)

15. Christ’s III (+1)

16. FaT III (-1)

17. LMBC III

18. Emma III Spoons

13.32: All we have left to confirm is a potential bump between Girton and Sidney. We can confirm blades for St Catherine’s W2, while Wolfson W1 and Emma W3 take home the spoons.

13.27: It looks like Catz have got their blades by bumping ARU. We’ll try to confirm that when we can. Christ’s also seem to have bumped FaT. Apparently Peterhouse caught Wolfson after all. Real confusion here.

13.26: Wolfson have Peterhouse tight on their tail.

13.25: Murray Edwards have got an early bump on Hughes Hall.

13.23: Tit Hall move for the bump on Darwin but miss. And they’ve got the bump.

13.21: They’re off. Decent start from the front boats pulling away from Clare.

13.19: Of course this is the first year where the women row every day without a break. This is because The Tideway Women’s Eights Head of the River Race is tomorrow. Don’t envy the girls rowing in that.

13.16: Four minutes till we’re off and it’s my last stint on the live text. [Cue wild celebrations from Cambridge as a whole]

13.09: Caius, Downing and, I suppose, Darwin have their last chance to try to sandwich in Div 2 but whoever does go up will have done a hell of a lot of rowing in the last few days. If it’s Caius, they sandwiched yesterday as well as the re-row.

13.03: The Tab’s very own Tom Tryon is in the studio at Cam FM today, bringing his own inimitable take on humour to the airwaves. Check him out along with live commentary of all the races at the link above.

12.58: For those of you who weren’t glued to the feed yesterday, here’s Jon Fuhrmann’s round-up.

12.49: Looking ahead to the real event of the day we have W1 at 4.00 where the Downing crew look to maintain the Headship and take blades in the process. They’re just looking for the men to join them by bumping Caius at 4.40.

12.42: Yesterday saw the whole of W3 re-rowed so expect some tired bodies out there today. Real test of endurance.

12.36:  Much more bad news in this division than good. Wolfson, Clare Hall, LMBC III and Emma all on for spoons. However, only one of those last two boats can get it so a great battle to watch at the bottom end of the Division there.

12.30: LET’S GET READY TO RUMMMMBLE! Day 4 is here and it’s the last time we see any of the women’s crews. We”l have blades, we’ll have spoons and crucially, we’ll have Head of the River. Can anybody catch Downing W1? Don’t bet on it.

12.31: First up we’ve got W3. Here’s how the table is looking:

W3

1. Caius II (-1)

2. Downing II (+2)

3. Clare II (+2)

4. Darwin II (-2)

5. Tit Hall II (+2)

6. Wolfson I (-3)

7. Peterhouse II (+1)

8. Sidney II

9. Girton II (+1)

10. Hughes Hall II (+1)

11. Murray Edwards II (+1)

12. Clare Hall (-3)

13. Anglia Ruskin II (+2)

14. Catz II (+3)

15. FaT III (-2)

16. Christ’s III

17. LMBC III (-3)

18. Emma III

——————————————————————————————————

DAY 3

17.11: Great day’s rowing! Crashes re-rows and more bumps than the dodgems. Downing were imperious at the top of W1 and Caius looked secure against Downing in the men’s. Well done to Peterhouse W1 and Catz M1 who have moved up into the top divisions. As usual look out for Jon Fuhrmann’s break-down of the day on The Tab later. See you at 12.30 for the last day of women’s racing.

3. LMBC

4. FaT

5. Queens’

7. Jesus

13. Christ’s (+1)

14. Emma (-1)

15. Robinson (+1)

16. King’s (-1)

17. Catz (+1)

18. Fitz(-1)

16.56: Ok, confirmed everthing. Nothing to report at the top of the division but carnage at the bottom. Table coming up.

16:53: CORRECTION Tit Hall did not bump Jesus. Rather Peterhouse caught Tit Hall.

16.51: Catz have bumped Fitz to move up a division and it looks like Girton have caught Magdalene.

16.51: We have our first bumps: Tit Hall on Jesus, Christ’s on Emma, Robinson on King’s.

16.49: Girton closing on Magdalene.

16.47: They’re off and it’s a big start form Downing but Caius react. Those two pull away from LMBC.

16.43: They’ll be knackered but Catz might fancy their chances of staying in M1 facing a Fitz team who were bumped yesterday.

16.40: Corrected W1 final table up.

16.37: FaT and Tit Hall looked weak as they both got bumped on the first day and have quick crews behind then so watch out for Queens’ and Peterhouse.

16.32: Of course, this is only the second time M1 have taken to the river. Here’s the line-up with yesterday’s results:

M1

1. Caius

2. Downing

3. LMBC (+1)

4. FaT (-1)

5. Queens’

6. Pembroke

7. Jesus (+1)

8. Tit Hall (-1)

9. Peterhouse

10. Clare

11. Magdalene

12. Girton (+1)

13. Emma (-1)

14. Christ’s (+1)

15. King’s (-1)

16. Robinson (+1)

17. Fitz (-1)

18. Catz

16.29: Also worth mentioning that King’s have bumped two days in a row. M1 up next. Starting order coming up.

16.27: “I’ve got an angel/oar complex” Thank you Tom from John’s!

16.26: Great news for Peterhouse, who move up a division while Catz bump was their second of the week. Things look pretty grim for Queen’s and Tit Hall who have both been bumped on every outing.

16.24: Ok, this looks like the final table:

W1

Day 2

1. Downing

2. Emma

3. FaT (+1)

4. Pembroke (-1)

5. Christ’s

6. Jesus

7. Clare (+1)

8. Queens’ (-1)

9. Caius

10. Newnham (+1)

11. Tit Hall (-1)

12. Catz

13. LMBC

14. Magdalene

15. King’s (+1)

16. Selwyn (+1)

17. Peterhouse (+1)

18. Churchill (-1)

16.21: King’s have bumped Selwyn.

16.19: FaT have bumped Churchill up at the top while the sandwich boat Peterhouse have bumped Churchill to secure their position in W1.

16.17: We believe Newnham have bumped Tit Hall. News on that when we’ve got it.

16.15: They’re off and Downing are storming ahead again. Pembroke looking to avenge yesterday’s bump from Emma.

16.10: Here’s how it’s panned out on the first two days. Day 2 as the starting order for today.

W1

Day 2

1. Downing

2. Emma (+1)

3. Pembroke (-1)

4. FaT

5. Christ’s

6. Queens’ (-1)

7. Jesus (+1)

8. Clare

9. Tit Hall (-1)

10. Caius (+1)

11. Newnham

12. LMBC (-1)

13. Catz (+1)

14. Magdalene

15. Selwyn

16. Churchill (-1)

17. King’s (+1)

18. Peterhouse

Day 1

1. Downing

2. Pembroke

3. Emma

4. FaT

5. Christ’s (+1)

6. Queens’ (-1)

7. Jesus

8. Clare (+1)

9. Tit Hall (-1)

10. Caius

11. Newnham

12. LMBC

13. Catz (+1)

14. Magdalene (-1)

15. Selwyn

16. Churchill (+1)

17. King’s (-1)

16.08: So, onto the business end of the day and the first divisions. W1 up first.

16.02: We of course meant LMH here rather than LMBC. Changes coming!

15.59: However, success storie for Downing (as usual!), Christ’s (for whom we got a lovely text of support before the race(078503489847, keep them coming)) and ARU who have cemented their move from M3 on the first day.

15.57: So Churchill have dropped two places from the top of the division where they started and Sidney, Wolfson and Corpus have also been bumped twice.

15.55: Here’s how I reckon it’s looking:

1. Catz M1

2. Selwyn M1 (+1)

3. Churchill M1 (-1)

4. Downing M2 (+1)

5. Caius M2 (-1)

6. FaT M1

7. Jesus M2

8. LMH M2 (+1)

9. Sidney M1 (-1)

10. Pembroke M2

11. Homerton M1 (+1)

12. Wolfson M1 (-1)

13. Queens’ M2

14. Christ’s M2 (+1)

15. Emma M2 (-1)

16. ARU M1 (+1)

17. Corpus M1 (-1)

18. Darwin

15.51: Downing have got a very late bump on Caius. Dramatic. Full table when we can confirm it. Looks like six bumps there.

15.50: CORRECTION ARU were not bumped by Darwin, in fact they bumped Corpus ahead of them.

15.48: Homerton have bumped Wolfson while Downing chase Caius hard.

15.47: Selwyn have caught Churchill at the top end while apparently Darwin have sealed promotion by catching ARU as the sandwich.

15.44: We have a bump by Christ’s on Emma and LMH have caught Sidney.

15.41: The boats are off in M2. Decent start from Churchill looking for an early bump to take first place.

15.39: Upwardly moblie Jesus might fancy their chances against FaT who were bumped on the first day. Further down LMBC II were denied a bump when a re-row was ordered. They’ll want to right that wrong.

15.35: “You rock my boat and I’ll go down.” That’s come from a prep-school teacher, ladies and gents.

15.29: Up next we’ve M2 who we didn’t see on the first day. Here’s the starting order with Day 1’s results:

1. Catz M1 (+1)

2. Churchill M1 (-1)

3. Selwyn M1

4. Caius M2

5. Downing M2 (+1)

6. FaT M1 (-1)

7. Jesus M2 (+1)

8. Sidney M1 (-1)

9. LMH M2

10. Pembroke M2 (+1)

11. Wolfson M1 (-1)

12. Homerton M1

13. Queens’ M2

14. Emma M2

15. Christ’s M2 (+1)

16. Corpus M1 (-1)

17. ARU M1 (+1)

18. Darwin

15.25: Newnham II, Christ’s II, Homerton W1 and Robinson W1 have all gained two places over the three days, while Caius W2 appear to have become somewhat of a yoyo boat.

15.24: So it looks like Jesus W2 have dropped for the third day in a row, as have Pembroke W2 and St Ed’s W1. Bad few days for them!

15.22: Five bumps and here’s a provisional table:

1. Peterhouse

2. Murray Edwards

3. Girton

4. LMBC II (+1)

5. Emma II (-1)

6. Sidney

7. Fitz

8. Robinson (+1)

9. Hughes Hall (-1)

10. Homerton (+1)

11. Jesus II (-1)

12. FaT II

13. Christ’s II (+1)

14. Pembroke II (-1)

15. ARU

16. Newnham II (+1)

17. St Edmund’s (-1)

18. Caius II

15.14: Newnham 2 have bumped St Ed’s and Robinson have bumped Hughes Hall. Tight with the front two.

15.11: Jesus have been bumped by Homerton, Emma by LMBC and Pembroke by Christ’s. Exciting stuff.

15.10: Starting cannon is off, let’s see if Murray Edwards can catch Peterhouse where they couldn’t yesterday.

15.08: So, let’s see if we can push this through before sunset! W3 coming up soon. Here’s how they’ve fared on the first two days:

W2

Day 2

1. Peterhouse

2. Murray Edwards

3. Girton

4. Emma II (+1)

5. LMBC II (-1)

6. Sidney

10. Jesus II (-1)

11. Homerton

12. FaT II  (+1)

13. Pembroke II (-1)

14. Christ’s II

15. ARU (+1)

16. St Edmund’s (-1)

17. Newnham II (+1)

18. Caius II (-1)

Day 1

1. Peterhouse

2. Murray Edwards (+1)

3. Girton (-1)

4. LMBC 2 (+1)

5. Emma 2 (-1)

6. Sidney (+1)

7. Fitz (-1)

8. Hughes Hall (+1)

9. Jesus 2 (-1)

10. Robinson

11. Homerton (+1)

12. Pembroke 2 (-1)

13. FaT 2

14. Christ’s 2 (+1)

15. St Edmund’s (-1)

16. ARU

17. Caius 2

15.02: So here’s the confirmed results from W3. Girton II got away with a technical row-over after they crashed into the bank, and so Hughes Hall II got one as well.

1. Caius II

2. Downing II

3. Clare II (+1)

4. Darwin II (-1)

5. Tit Hall II (+1)

6. Wolfson I (-1)

7. Peterhouse II (+1)

8. Sidney II (-1)

9. Girton II (technical row-over)

10. Hughes Hall II (technical row-over)

11. Murray Edwards II (+1)

12. Clare Hall (-1)

13. Anglia Ruskin II

14. Catz II (+1)

15. FaT III (-1)

16. Christ’s III (+1)

17. LMBC III (-1)

18. Emma III

14.58: Murray Edwards on Twitter reckon they’re #wellhard. Their first boat line up in W2 and will have another shot at knocking Peterhouse off the top spot.

14.55: Don’t forget to keep sending in your rowing chat-up lines. [email protected] or @TabSport and the best one will win a money-can’t-buy Tab t-shirt.

14.53: No men’s third division today, so we move straight on to W2. Confirmed results from W3 on the way in just a moment.

14.51: St Catz II storming up the division again today, amazingly every St Catz boat has bumped in every race today. It could be a messy weekend for them.

14.45: So with Emma rowing through to the finish at the back, we reckon the (aggregated) bumps in W3 are as follows: Clare II on Darwin, Tit Hall II on Wolfson, Peterhouse II on Sidney II, Hughes Hall II on Girton II, Mudwards II on Clare Hall, St Catz II on FaT III and Christ’s III on LMBC III. Bumptastic.

14.43: LMBC III take a bad line through Grassy and Christ’s III finally get their scalp.

14.41: Bumps for Tit Hall II on Wolfson, Peterhouse II on Sidney II at Grassy, and then the Girton II crashed into the side, giving Hughes Hall II behind them their bump.

14.39: LMBC III being chased down by Christ’s III at the back, the bump looking inevitable.

14.38: The re-row is underway, but Murray Eds and St Catz bumped up further down the division so they won’t be racing.

14.35: If you’re just joining us today’s been all about big crashes and huge hits. M4 had to re-row pretty much the whole division earlier after Pembroke and Christ’s got a bit close. And right now we’re waiting for all of W3 to re-row, except for the top four boats. What time’s sunset?

14.32: Plenty of references to long and narrow boats on the texts. Keep them coming and we’ll put the best up here.

14.29: And don’t forget that Cam FM are providing live commentary of every race, when the races actually get past first-post corner, that is.

14.23: While we wait for W3 to turn around and start again, here’s another of your rowing chat-up lines: “I’ll be your cox if you’ll be my stroke.” Think you can do better? I think you can. 07742710964, [email protected] or @TabSport and you could win a Tab t-shirt.

14.21: So Day Three already becoming known for its re-rows. As far as we’re aware the only concrete bump there before the hooter was Clare II on Darwin. There may have been others, but it will be up to the umpires to decide if they happened before everything shut down.

14.19: Caius II now looking to be clear of Downing II as they pass onto the reach. Behind Wolfson it looks like everyone will be re-rowing. Frustrated voices all round, again many feeling that the stoppage was unnecessary.

14.17: Wolfson and Tit Hall pulling into the side and it all seems to have ground to a halt behind them. Caius and Downing II battling it out at the head as Downing look to keep their blades attempt going.

14.16: Overlap on Darwin and Clare II take the first bump.

14.15: An ambulance came down to the river following that crash in M4 but it sounds like everyone is all right. W3 getting underway in a few seconds time.

1. Caius II

2. Downing II

3. Darwin II

4. Clare II

5. Wolfson I

6. Tit Hall II

7. Sidney II

8. Peterhouse II

9. Girton II

10. Hughes Hall II

11. Clare Hall

12. Murray Edwards II

13. Anglia Ruskin II

14. FaT III

15. Catz II

16. LMBC III

17. Christ’s III

18. Emma III

14.10: Here’s the confirmed results for M4 then. We thought that LMBC IV might have been given a technical row-over for their crash, but in fact Anglia Ruskin have been given the bump on them after they rowed successfully past the pile-up.

1. Clare Hall

2. Addenbrooke’s

3. Queens’ III (+1)

4. Fitz II (-1)

5. Wolfson II

6. Christ’s III (+1)

7. Pembroke III (-1)

8. Emma III

9. Downing III (+1)

10. Sidney II (-1)

11. Homerton II

12. Hughes Hall II (+1)

13. Queens’ IV (-1)

14. Anglia Ruskin II (+1)

15. LMBC IV (-1)

16. Corpus II

17. Girton III

18. Selwyn III

14.03: So W3 that was due to get underway at 14.00 will be delayed because of that large-scale re-row. In the meantime get your rowing chat-up lines in to 07742710964, [email protected] or @TabSport.

13.59: Sidney II not having such a good week – bumped twice and some repairs needed on their boat (and cox). Downing III, on the other hand, will race for blades on Saturday.

13.57: Not for the first time this week then, M4 resembling a rugby pitch more than a rowing race. Christ’s will be thrilled to have avenged their slip-up yesterday. Confirmed results on the way.

13.52: Carnage galore and debris everywhere, but here’s what we reckon happened in M4: Bumps for Queens III on Fitz II, Christ’s III on Pembroke III, Downing III on Sidney II and Hughes II on Queens’ IV. Probably a technical row-over for LMBC IV as well after they took the Sidney cox out completely. We told you there would be a battle in the middle of that division but nobody expected it to get that physical.

13.50: LMBC IV crashed straight into that Sidney pile-up, umpires will have some decisions to make on that one. Selwyn III holding up the back of the division and not looking to make any ground.

13.48: Addenbrooke’s closing in on Clare Hall down the reach. Chaos with Emma, Sidney and Downing, looks like Sidney got their bump on Downing though before being ploughed into by another boat.

13.46: After the practice start, all the boats looking to be getting into a good rhythm early on. Sidney closing on Emma, but Downing closing on them as well. Further up Queens III have bumped up on Fitz II.

13.43: Later than planned, we’re back with M4 and ready to go again. Sounds like Pembroke just didn’t get off the mark, Christ’s smashed into them and there was no way for anyone behind them to go again. All the boats except those two re-rowing.

13.39: “You should see my technique in the boat, it’ll make you wet.” Nothing needs to be said.

13.34: While we’re waiting, get your best rowing chat-up lines in for the chance to win a Tab t-shirt. Submissions on a postcard to 07742710964, [email protected] or @TabSport

13.32: Cam FM are playing Gnarls Barkley’s ‘Crazy’. It’s been a crazy start to Day Three here. M4 trotting back to their starting stations.

13.30: We’re hearing that in the carnage Christ’s III bumped Pembroke III, reversing yesterday’s bump. But because of the blockage, the rest of the division are going to re-row.

13.27: Luigi on Twitter reckons that it’s been halted for an air raid. Sounds like that at least.

13.25: Bemused faces and shrugged shoulders all round so far. Talk about a false start.

13.23: Unclear at the moment why the marshals have stopped the race, perhaps an obstruction. All the crews now pulled in to the side, taking a breather and just waiting for a decision about what will happen next.

13.21: The top four boats got away, but the race has been stopped almost immediately after the starting cannon.

13.17: M4 are about to get going then as the sun beats down on the river. Watch out for Wolfson II and Queens’ III who have traded bumps in the first two days. And there’s a battle going on between Christs’, Emma, Pembroke and Sidney that’s seen overbumps and crashes so far this week. Lower down Downing III and LMBC IV are charging up the division and will be looking for their third bumps.

13.14: Keep the rowing chat-up lines coming in, plenty referring to ‘floating your boat’. M4 due up at 13.20.

13.07: We had some great facial expressions sent in yesterday, here’s our favourite so far from Day Two, featuring Jake Gluyas of LMBC I:

Plenty of photos here, take a look and see if you can find any contenders for ‘face of the day’.

13.01: Here’s the first one: “Play your cards right and you might get to meet my cox.” It can only get better from here…

12.56: And we want you to get involved as well today. On Tuesday we asked you what LMBC stood for. Yesterday we got rowing-related song titles. Today, we want your rowing chat-up lines. Once again, there’s a Tab t-shirt on offer for the best. Send them to 07742710964, email them to [email protected] or tweet them to @TabSport. Get flirtatious.

12.54: As always our partners at Cam FM are bringing you live commentary from every race, the perfect accompaniment to our text coverage.

12.48: If you want to find out exactly what happened yesterday then check out our round-up of Day Two from Jonathan Fuhrmann. If you’re really keen then Day One is here too.

12.45: The top two men’s divisions have only raced once each, and we got our first look at M1 yesterday. St Catz will be looking favourites to shift up a division when they row as the sandwich boat behind a faltering Fitzwilliam. LMBC were taken all the way by First and Third yesterday, another tight race might be in store today as Caius look to hang on to the headship.

12.37: Once again all the women’s divisions racing today, with tomorrow the last day for all of them due to the Head of the River races on Saturday. Downing held on to their headship yesterday while the much-tipped Christ’s boat failed to bump up. In W2 the hottest race will be between Murray Edwards and Peterhouse, the former looking to do what they couldn’t manage yesterday and take the head of the division. Here’s how the women line up:

12.30: It’s an absolutely glorious day down at the Cam, perfect for some glorious bumps actions. Yesterday had it all; carnage, division changes and races to the death. We’re here with every moment of every race until the very last stroke. Everyone except M3 are rowing today, a full run-down is coming up.

——————————————————————————————————

DAY 2 – FULL ROUND-UP HERE

17.17: Well, well, well. Quite a day. M3 was absolute madness – only two row-overs, one of them from the sandwich boat and a first look at M1. Downing looked very solid at the top of W1, can the blokes join them by the end of the week?

Remember to check out Jon Fuhrmann’s summary up on The Tab later for his take on the day. See you at 12.30 tomorrow. Another big day in store.

17.04: So very unlucky for Peterhouse who thought they’d catch Jesus but Caius do well to hold off Downing in theior pursuit of that double headship. Full day’s results coming up.

17.00:  Ok, we can confirm both of those bumps so here’s the table:

M1

1. Caius

2. Downing

3. LMBC (+1)

4. FaT (+1)

5. Queens’

6. Pembroke

7. Jesus (+1)

8. Tit Hall (-1)

9. Peterhouse

10. Clare

11. Magdalene

12. Girton (+1)

13. Emma (-1)

14. Christ’s (+1)

15. King’s (-1)

16. Robinson (+1)

17. Fitz (-1)

18. St. Catz (Sandwich)

16.50: We’re still unclear about whether LMBC have caught FaT and the situation with Tit Hall, Jesus and Peterhouse. More on that when we have it but we do have bumps Robinson on Fitz, Christ’s on King’s and Girton on Emma. All change at the bottom!

16.47: All going on down at the bottom. Girton got Emma and King’s by Christ’s. Looks like Jesus may have bumped Tit Hall.

16.46: Robinson bumped Fitz early doors.

16.45: But Jesus are now catching Tit Hall. Dramatic…

16.43: Jesus just escape Peterhouse’s clutches around the corner but for how long?

16.42: LMBC pushing hard on FaT.

16.40: They’re off in M1. Decent start from Caius and Pembroke look good.

16.37: Race coming up. Be sure to check out Cam FM’s live commentary. Link above.

16.29: Peterhouse also look like a decent bet to bump what has looked a weak Jesus boat but who knows? Such is the beauty of bumps.

16.26: So Catz at sandwich have the advantage of M2 not having rowed today. They’ll fancy their chances after a good showing yesterday. Caius should be secure at the top but expect LMBC to push FaT hard.

16.24: So the last race of the day coming up and it will be our first sight of M1. This is how they’ll line up:

M1

1. Caius

2. Downing

3. First and Third

4. LMBC

5. Queens’

6. Pembroke

7. Tit Hall

8. Jesus

9. Peterhouse

10. Clare

11. Magdalene

12. Emma

13. Girton

14. King’s

15. Christ’s

16. Fitz

17. Robinson

18. St. Catz (Sandwich)

16.22: So good news for Emma but they’ll have their work cut out chasing Downing.

16.19: EMMA DID BUMP PEMBROKE

So corrected table:

1. Downing

2. Emma (+1)

3. Pembroke (-1)

4. FaT

5. Christ’s

6. Queens’ (-1)

7. Jesus (+1)

8. Clare

9. Tit Hall (-1)

10. Caius (+1)

11. Newnham

12. LMBC (-1)

13. Catz (+1)

14. Magdalene

15. Selwyn

16. Churchill (-1)

17. King’s (+1)

18. Peterhouse

16.15: That means That Queens’ and Tit Hall have been bumped two days in a row, while Catz have climbed twice. King’s and Churchill have traded bumps. It will be interesting to watch those two tomorrow.

16.14: So here’s a provisional table for you:

W1

1. Downing

2. Pembroke

3. Emma

4. FaT

5. Christ’s

6. Queens’ (-1)

7. Jesus (+1)

8. Clare

9. Tit Hall (-1)

10. Caius (+1)

11. Newnham

12. LMBC (-1)

13. Catz (+1)

14. Magdalene

15. Selwyn

16. Churchill (-1)

17. King’s (+1)

18. Peterhouse

16.11: So it looks like the only bumps were Jesus on Queens’, Caius on Tit Hall, Catz on LMBC and King’s on Churchill but we’re still waiting on news on Pembroke and Emma.

16.10: We think King’s have bumped Churchill. Yes that’s confirmed.

16.07: Looks like Emma are about to take 2nd place and Caius have bumped Tit Hall and Queens’ bumped by Jesus.

16.03: Emma close on Pembroke but they have FaT right on their tail and Catz have bumped LMBC.

16.01: Quiet start and Downing already powered into a three boat lead.

15.59: Savage stuff from Chloe Hole in our inbox: “After that M3 carnage, based on the Queen song… “Another One Bumps the Bank”. And ironically, I wouldn’t put it past Queens’ to do this given their antics so far this week.”

15.56: Nearly start time in W1. Big end to Day 2 here on The Tab.

15.54: Slightly different game from Victoria Lindsay but I love Broken Heel-Restraints by Alexandra Burke. Keep those emails coming in [email protected]

15.52: So there wasn’t much movement at the top of the division yesterday. Downing looked very solid so don’t hold your breath on a new leader. Christ’s looked strong as they bumped Queens’ so FaT look out…

15:49: Well, here’s the W1 table from yesterday with a surely pretty tired Peterhouse hanging on to sandwich:

W1

1. Downing

2. Pembroke

3. Emma

4. FaT

5. Christ’s (+1)

6. Queens’ (-1)

7. Jesus

8. Clare (+1)

9. Tit Hall (-1)

10. Caius

11. Newnham

12. LMBC

13. Catz (+1)

14. Magdalene (-1)

15. Selwyn

16. Churchill (+1)

17. King’s (-1)

18. Peterhouse

15.46: Right onto the big-time. We’ve got W1 coming up at 4 followed by M1 at 4.40. Get excited.

15.40: In fact the Murray Edwards crew didn’t manage to catch Peterhouse before the end of the course, they’ll be gutted not to have got that bump, many were tipping them to break into Division 1. Here’s the final results for W2:

1. Peterhouse

2. Murray Edwards

3. Girton

4. Emma II (+1)

5. LMBC II (-1)

6. Sidney

7. Fitz

8. Hughes Hall

9. Robinson (+1)

10. Jesus II (-1)

11. Homerton

12. FaT II  (+1)

13. Pembroke II (-1)

14. Christ’s II

15. ARU (+1)

16. St Edmund’s (-1)

17. Newnham II (+1)

18. Caius II (-1)

15.37: And Victoria’s going for The Killers – Mr Bowside. Think you can do better? Get in touch for a chance to win a Tab t-shirt.

15.35: Boom! Shake the Loom – DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. That’s just an excuse to link to this

15.29: We don’t think Christ’s II managed to catch Homerton, so here are the bumps we’re calling in W2: Mudwards on Peterhouse, Emma II on LMBC II, Robinson on Jesus II, First and Third II on Pembroke II, ARU on St Ed’s and Newnham II on Caius II.

15.27: At the back Caius drop down a division after being bumped by Newnham and First and Third II bump Pembroke II. Christ’s II going for an overbump on Homerton. And at the very end Peterhouse succumbed to Murray Edwards who got their bump, but made hard work of it.

15.25: And ARU have caught St Ed’s. Peterhouse and Murray Edwards are going to race to the death, less than a canvas between the boats.

15.24: Robinson bump up on Jesus II, and Homerton behind them crash into Jesus but manage to carry on down the river.

15.23: LMBC II have crashed into the bank, giving Emma II the bump

15.22: The leading boats are surging through towards Ditton

15.20: Off they go…

15.18: Here we go then, W2 starts like this:

1. Peterhouse

2. Murray Edwards

3. Girton

4. LMBC 2

5. Emma 2

6. Sidney

7. Fitz

8. Hughes Hall

9. Jesus 2

10. Robinson

11. Homerton

12. Pembroke II

13. FaT II

14. Christ’s II

15. St Edmund’s

16. ARU

17. Caius II

18. Newnham II

15.15: W2 coming up in a minute, watch out for Murray Edwards’ ‘Octopussy’ making  a charge into the first division, and expect plenty of bumps all the way down the field.

15.10: We’re halfway through Day 2, I make that teatime. Any sugar in your cuppa? One bump or two?

15.07: Don’t forget, we’re offering a Tab t-shirt for the best bumps-related song title of the day. Can you come up with something better than Chumbawumba – Tub-bumping? Have a go. 07742710964, [email protected] or @TabSport

15.05: And here are the final results from M3. Selwyn and Peterhouse have completely wrecked their boats, that’s not gonna help their causes this week. In the crash Selwyn were given a technical row-over but Churchill couldn’t claim it affected them enough to avoid the bump from Tit Hall.

1. Darwin (+1)

2. St Ed’s (-1)

3. Peterhouse II (+1)

4. Magdalene II (-1)

5. Selwyn II (technical row-over)

6. Tit Hall II (+1)

7. Churchill II (-1)

8. Clare II (+1)

9. First and Third III (-1)

10. Hughes Hall (+1)

11. King’s II (-1)

12. St Catz II (+1)

13. Jesus III (-1)

14. Girton II (+1)

15. Robinson II (-1)

16. LMBC III (+1)

17. Caius III (-1)

18. Clare Hall

15.03: Queens’, in addition to a sunglasses-removing-crab yesterday (see video below), aren’t having a particularly good week so far. Not so for St Catz though, who have yet to have a race where they haven’t bumped up.

15.00: Remember if you want to listen to the races as they are happening check out Cam FM’s live commentary while you read our text updates.

14.55: Send in your messages of support and we’ll publish some of them here. And judging by the comments below, some of you rate yourself as experts – send your predictions our way as well. [email protected], 07742710964 or tweet @TabSport

14.48: So the bumps we’re calling in M3 are Darwin on St Ed’s, Peterhouse II on Magdalene II, Clare II on First and Third III, Hughes Hall on King’s II, St Catz II on Jesus III, Girton II on Robinson II and LMBC III on Caius III. That’s some next-level bumping action.

14.46: Selwyn and Peterhouse involved in a huge crash, Churchill and Tit Hall caught up in it as well, this one’s going to the umpires.

14.45: Cauis III bumped by LMBC III in the gut with a crunching hit. That one was better suited to the rugby pitch. King’s II were also bumped by Hughes Hall and it looks like St Catz II and Girton II got bumps as well.

14.44: The Peterhouse boat all over the bank, chaos down at Grassy corner. Clare bumping First and Third lower down the division.

14.43: Magadalene bumped by Peterhouse, who get crashed into by Selwyn II. At the front Darwin managed to bump St Ed’s.

14.42: M3 are underway, here’s how they start:

1. St Ed’s

2. Darwin

3. Magdalene II

4. Peterhouse II

5. Selwyn II

6. Churchill II

7. Tit Hall II

8. First and Third III

9. Clare II

10. King’s II

11. Hughes Hall

12. Jesus III

13. St Catz II

14. Robinson II

15. Girton II

16. Caius III

17. LMBC III

httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ANl4o9m-14&feature=youtu.be

14.35: Fact of the day: the BeeGees were made famous by their song ‘How deep is your bump?’

14.31: More of your favourite pictures from yesterday, see them here and pick your contender for ‘anguished facial expression of the day’. Here’s a few early front-runners:

14.28: M3 up next at 14.40. In the meantime we’ve had Supergrass – Bumping on your stereo. Not bad, but not as good as Lycra Virgin.

14.22: W3 finished like this. St Catz on the charge again, as we expected, and Downing II looking like they might make it into W2 by the end of the week.

1. Newnham II

2. Downing II (+1)

3. Darwin II (-1)

4. Clare II (+1)

5. Wolfson I (-1)

6. Tit Hall II

7. Sidney II (+1)

8. Peterhouse II (-1)

9. Girton II

10. Hughes Hall II (+1)

11. Clare Hall (-1)

12. Murray Edwards II

13. Anglia Ruskin II (+1)

14. FaT III (-1)

15. Catz II (+1)

16. LMBC III (-1)

17. Christ’s III

18. Emma III

14.21: Madonna – Lycra Virgin. We’ve expanded out from bumps to general rowing terminology, a great bit of creativity there, top marks. I need a biscuit. W3 results on the way.

14.14: Cam FM playing ‘Somebody That I Used To Bump’, they are of course providing live commentary of every race today. On the texts we’ve got Foster the People’s hit ‘Bumped-up kicks’ as well. 07742710964, [email protected] or @TabSport for the chance to win a Tab t-shirt.

14.10: Along with Anglia Ruskin’s technical bump after First and Third didn’t show, these are the rest of the bumps we’re calling from that race: Downing II on Darwin, Clare II on Wolfson, Sidney II on Peterhouse II, Hughes Hall II on Clare Hall and St Catz II on LMBC III.

14.08: Three-way chase as Sidney try to catch Peterhouse, who are also trying to catch Tit Hall. But it’s Sidney II that get the bump and Tit Hall escape.

14.06: As predicted, St Catz have caught up with LMBC III, and it looks like Clare Hall have been bumped out as well.

14.04: Slow clearing all round but Wolfson getting bumped by Clare II as well.

14.02: Away we go. Rumours abound that First and Third III haven’t turned up. And Downing II may have caught Darwin II right off the start

14.01: Next up are W3, again slightly delayed by our fisherman. Watch out for St Catz near the bottom, hoping to preserve their boat club’s 100% bumping record this week. Here’s how they start:

1. Newnham II

2. Darwin II

3. Downing II

4. Wolfson I

5. Clare II

6. Tit Hall II

7. Peterhouse II

8. Sidney II

9. Girton II

10. Clare Hall

11. Hughes Hall II

12. Murray Edwards II

13. FaT III

14. Anglia Ruskin II

15. LMBC III

16. Catz II

17. Christ’s III

18. Emma III

13.58: Someone’s sent us in this picture of a rower looking very worried out on the Cam yesterday. What had he just seen?

13.54: So Downing and LMBC are the ones to watch in that division over the course of this week, two strong days from both of them. And Wolfson II and Queens’ III have traded bumps in the first two days, that could be a great battle tomorrow and Saturday.

13.52: And the confirmation of those results from M4:

1. Clare Hall

2. Addenbrooke’s

3. Fitz II

4. Queens III (+1)

5. Wolfson II (-1)

6. Pembroke III (+1)

7. Christ’s III (-1)

8. Emma III (+1)

9. Sidney II (-1)

10. Downing III (+1)

11. Homerton II (-1)

12. Queens’ IV

13. Hughes Hall II

14. LMBC IV (+1)

15. Anglia Ruskin II (-1)

16. Corpus II

17. Girton III

18. Selwyn III

13.49: One of my favourites so far is Chumbawumba – Tub-bumping, great work there. An unnamed big dog reckons ‘Bump up the jam’ or ‘Sophomore bump or comeback of the year’. Niche, I like it.

13.43: We’re well and truly underway then. And you’ve been sending in your bumps song suggestions. Elton John had a hit with ‘I guess that’s why they call it the bumps’ and The Wombats have got ‘Bump into the Fog’. Nice.

13.39: And that’s that from M4, we’re calling the following bumps: Queens’ III on Wolfson II, Emma III on Sidney II, Pembroke III on Christ’s III, Downing III on Homerton II and LMBC IV on Anglia Ruskin II. Chaos down at Ditton though, so full confirmation in a bit when the umpires decide they’re happy with everything.

13.37: Homerton II bumped by a surging Downing III, with the rest rowing over.

13.35: Ditton Corner littered with boats as the survivors move on to the Long Reach

13.34: It’s looking like Pembroke III have bumped Sidney II after the technical row-over yesterday, and Queens’ III may have overturned yesterday’s result by bumping Wolfson II. Carnage!

13.32: Anglia Ruskin bumped by LMBC

13.31: Sidney II closing in on Pembroke III and the top 4 all bunching up together.

13.30: And they’re off…

13.28: The delay was caused by a fisherman. That’s right, some fella in waders with a thermos of soup has managed to hold up 18 rowing boats trying to get to the start line. I hope he’s happy.

13.25: In the meantime, our very own Rupert Mercer has come up with Bumps and Grind – R Kelly. 07742710964 or sport@cambridge tab.co.uk with your bump songs, you know you want that t-shirt.

13.22: The start is slightly delayed, have Queens’ IV had another ejector crab on the way to the start?

13.19: Any moment now Day 2 will officially be underway, hold tight.

13.14: Snoop Dogg – Bump it like it’s hot! We’re getting there, keep them coming in. It’s not like you’ve got any real work to do, is it?

13.10: Our first race of the day is M4, coming up at 13.20. Yesterday Emma III had an absolute shocker; thinking they had made it across the finishing line, they started celebrating, only Christ’s III to get the bump. Only their bow had crossed the line, not the stern, and so the overbump stood.

The keen-eyed amongst you will notice that despite the overbump, Pembroke III and Sidney II didn’t bump. That’s because they got given technical rowovers, leaving Christ’s empty water to catch Emma on the finish line.

Queens’ IV will also be looking to improve on their performance from yesterday after they ejected one of their crew members on the way to the start. Nice work lads.

Here’s how they line up.

1. Clare Hall

2. Addenbrooke’s

3. Fitz II

4. Wolfson II

5. Queens III

6. Christ’s III

7. Pembroke III

8. Sidney Sussex II

9. Emma III

10. Homerton II

11. Downing III

12. Queens’ IV

13. Hughes Hall II

14. Anglia Ruskin II

15. LMBC IV

16. Corpus II

17. Girton III

18. Selwyn III

13.03: So far we’ve had these suggestions: House of Pain – Bump Around, and Black Eyed Peas – My Humps. We’re offering a Tab T-shirt for the best submission, not available in the shops. Points for creativity, originality and sexual innuendo.

13.01: And remember you can hear every race live thanks to our partners at Cam FM who’ve decided that mixing expensive broadcasting equipment with the river Cam is actually a great idea.

12.51: Yesterday we had some brilliant suggestions for what LMBC stood for, good work. Today we’re looking for song names that you can slip the word ‘bump’ into. Here’s one to get you going: Rizzle Kicks – Mama Do The Bump. Send them in to [email protected], text them to 07742710964 (standard network rates) or tweet them @TabSport. Get involved.

17.03: Churchill have bumped King’s.

17.00: Clare have bumped Trinity Hall, Catz have bumped Magdalene just before they caught LMBC. Close escape for the John’s girls.

16.58: We’re off in W1.

16.53: Hopefully we’ll have W1 for you as soon as possible. Not sure the organisers were prepared for this!

16.50: LMBC – Topical to tide you through: Let’s Make Boaties Cool. Every club’s ambition!

16.39: LMBC – Ladies Make Boys Chunder. Maybe that’s why they joined the boat club…

16.36: W1 is delayed for the re-race. News on that when we’ve got it.

16.23: M2 BREAKING NEWS: Firstly a correction, Catz have bumped the leaders Churchill and will try their hand in M1 tomorrow. Further down a re-race has been ordered between Sidney, Jesus 2 and LMBC 2. Bad news for the John’s boys who thought they had a bump in the bag. We’ll give you news on that as it happens.

16.21: Emma to Bump Pembroke is the experts’ favourite for a high profile bump but Downing shouldn’t be too worried. Can FaT arrest last year’s record of 4 bumps in 4 days?

15.34: LMBC – One for all you fans of Movember, Luxuriant Moustaches Bring Copulation, while we’ve got some TopGun retro with Lieutenant Maverick’s Booze Commanders.

15.32:  Here’s how I reckon it panned out. I’ll let you know if there are any corrections when they confirm results. Remarkable race bumpswise. Opened up the intriguing possibility of 10th place Robinson overbumping Peterhouse in 1st. Bit much to ask?

1. Peterhouse

2. Murray Edwards

3. Girton

4. LMBC 2

5. Emma 2

15.25: Hughes Hall seem to have bumped Jesus 2.

15.17: W2 coming up in a matter of minutes.

15.14: LMBC – Les Meilleurs bateaux de College. Look! My Best Chinos. Love Making Blade Carriers.

Cambridge you are strange, strange people. Keep ’em coming 07850349847. Tab tee-shirts for the best!

15.11: LMBC – Loaded Men Big Cocks. Implying that they are dicks, not that they are well-endowed. Make of that what you will…

15.05: That W2 race will be coming to you at 20 past. Murray Edwards bumped every day last year: keep an eye out for them.

Caius 2

18. Newnham 2

14.55: Really strong from ARU. It will be interesting to watch them in M2. Darwin eventually got their bump on Magdalene. Conflicting reports about Caius and Girton but no luck for Hughes Hall as they drop back down to the doldrums of M4.

14.42: Selwyn bump Churchill, Darwin closing on Magdalene…

14.40: There’s the gun. Strong start from AR.

14.36: Anglia Ruskin grabbed top spot last year and will look to push on towards M2. However, Darwin should sound a note of caution – they tasted M2’s giddy heights all too briefly in 2011 and lost two places the next day on their return to M3. They Start in third today.

14.33:  A reminder to follow live radio commentary of every race on Cam FM – http://bumps.camfm.co.uk/index.jsp

14.26: Apologies for errors made in the starting orders. My advice to go with it – don’t buy the Bumps program. Casually left out half the starting orders!

13.34: Well, plenty of drama there. Full results when we’ve got them. In the mean time I feel it necessary to insist that the LMBC are not campaigning for Paedophile rights. I’m not even explaining that acronym. Shame on you, text contributor.

13.26: A few more for you – Christ’s have bumped Sidney Sussex and a crab meant Queens’ failed to start, crashing and giving Downing a technical bump.

13.24: We have a Bump! Clare Hall have caught Addenbroke’s and Queens’ III and Corpus have both been bumped, Corpus by Magdalene. Christ’s have bumped Sidney. All go down here!

13.03: LMBC – Lasith Malinga Bullies Cats. Who knew?

13.02: Less than 20 minutes till the Men’s 4th Div take to the water. Fingers crossed for chaos…

13.00: Well, we’ve had our first LMBC suggestion in via text (07850349847) messages charged at your standard network rate) and apparently John’s are in fact trying to inform us that Lenin Makes Brilliant Croutons. Brighten up your borscht!

12.52: The Twittershpere informs me that the authorities have spent a good portion of the morning swan-luring. A fairly entertaining activity in its own right, I would imagine…

12.48: Indeed, I’ve been inspired to announce a competition. Send in your suggestions for what LMBC actually stands for. The best wins a Tab tee-shirt. Who could say ‘no’ to that?

12.45: For the technologically adept among you, get involved in The Tab coverage. Tweet us @TabSport and see your words of wisdom in the Twitter box below. Abuse is welcomed, as indeed are aspersions about the sexuality of rival college’s boats. Let’s have your finest vitriol, Cambridge.

12.38: For those of you following the Bumps for the first time, a brief rundown: The boats line up in the order in which they finished last year. If you catch up with or ‘bump’ the boat in front of you both boats draw to the side of the river and will switch places for the subsequent race. This gives the boat behind the pair a chance to catch the vessel that was three ahead, an overbump and so on ad Saturday.

12.32: A reminder you can listen to live commentary of all of the Bumps on Cam FM at bumps.camfm.co.uk

As for the ladies:

WOMEN’S DIVISION 1

1. Downing

6. Queens’

7. Jesus

11. Newnham

12. LMBC

13. Magdalene

14. St Catherine’s

15. Selwyn

Hard to see past Downing for the headship here, but an upwardly mobile Emma will be eyeing their chances. Jesus also look likely to rise a few spots.

If it’s carnage you’re after this division is normally the place to go as the novices catch enough crabs to keep Loch Fyne in business. Look out for Murray Edwards on the charge.
