Meet Ethan Overton, the Bournemouth student travelling from London to Amsterdam on foot
He’s been sleeping rough every night to raise money for homeless people
Ethan Overton is a second year Bournemouth student and he’s currently four days into his trip from London to Amsterdam in an attempt to raise money for homeless people this Christmas.
Ethan has been sharing his journey on TikTok and even keeping his followers updated with livestreams on his Instagram. He’s met a few people along the way, one person who gave him a blow up mattress for camping and waterproof gear, another guy who returned Ethan’s coat to him when he lost it and a couple who gave him £10 and two bottles of Coke.
Ethan has been camping the entire way and documenting his journey on social media. His Go Fund Me page says: “I can personally say that I take heating and a comfortable bed at night for granted, which is why I would love to attach a cause to this trip. Around 227,000 people living in the UK do not have a place to call home. This is devastating, even more so around a time like Christmas time.
“I understand that I am starting this Go Fund Me page late, however, it is better late than never. 100 per cent of your donations will be given to the homeless this Christmas. No matter how big or small the donation is, every little helps.”
Ethan has taken his electric scooter with him, however he’s had to stop several times so it’s not convincing how useful the scooter actually is. This is what his set up looks like most nights:
Yesterday he was on an 8 hour ferry across the Holland and after sleeping rough for the night, he’s binned his tent in hope that he will finish the trip either today or the early hours of tomorrow. On his TikTok, Ethan admits he will be sleeping in a hotel tonight if he has to after consistently sleeping in his tent for the last four nights.
