Hunting for Bournemouth’s best Christmas jumper

We searched the high street for seasonal knitwear so you don’t have to

Many of the Christmas jumpers on display around Bournemouth this winter are both dodgy and weirdly frightening. Most of them look horrible. Like why would you willingly wear a jumper like that. With pride. Out. In public.

I took the liberty of going around to the popular high street shops such as New Look, River Island and Primark, to see the variety of Christmas jumpers that were been sold, to judge them based on design and price, whilst embarrassing myself by trying them on (my friends refused). By the way, Topshop was disappointing, they didn’t even have any.

Women’s Christmas jumper – New Look, £25

When I put this on it felt as if my arms were just radiating with heat- a good thing may I add. It was so soft, I felt as if I was experiencing what a sheep feels like everyday. Struggled to get my head through (my head’s average size before you judge), but it was very comfy. Design was cute, a bit dry though.

Verdict: Very warm and comfy, Santa would be proud with the design, but other than that, it’s nothing special. I wouldn’t buy it for £25.

Men’s Christmas Jumper – River Island, £35

I saw this in the men’s section in River Island, but their changing room were out of order (did they flood or something). The material was nice and soft, something guaranteed to keep you men warm no doubt, but woah there! Talk about innuendos! Imagine going up to people asking them to ‘jingle your bells’; the response you’d get. Tut tut.

Verdict: Nice jumper, not sure your mum would approve though.

Women’s Christmas jumper – Primark, £12.50

The design is ghastly. The nose of the snowman literally sticks out, but surprisingly it’s a nice fit. Snug, with space for a bit of bagging which is nice.

Verdict: Cheap, corny, yet weirdly desirable. May be worth wearing something underneath like a vest, seems like one of those jumpers to give you allergies

Women’s Christmas jumper – River Island, £35

As stated before, River Island’s changing rooms were out of action today so I couldn’t try this on. The material was very thick, guaranteed to keep you warm and toasty. The design was different; embarrassing yet trendy.

Verdict: High fashion come at me bro.

So which one wins?

To be honest all of them are nice, but it has to be Primark. Even though it’s cheap and there’s the possibility that it may shrink after the first wash, it’s still a good-ish buy for during the Christmas season. So go grab a bargain, fellow student, and embrace the Christmas spirit. Santa would want you to.
